LVZ2881 Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 i will be coming home to oregon next week on vacation, specifically to the Eugene area( where I grew up), and to the Salem area( where I went to high school and still call home), what are the hobby shops I need to patronize while I am there??? I know about Eugene Toy and Hobby, so i'm looking mainly for the salem area ones. also, is there still that hobby shop in south albany right off the freeway, just west of the 5 ??
Jairus Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 James, All the Hobby shops in Albany that I knew of and those on the Internet are gone. At least the phone numbers come up disconnected.... We had one in Salem close (SkySport) so that leaves those of us in the Capitol City with one Hobbyshop and one RC shop. Plenty with the availablity of on-line sources. The two shops in Salem are in the Phone book and they are RC Plus and Leasure Hobbies. Welcome Home!
LVZ2881 Posted April 4, 2007 Author Posted April 4, 2007 I used to shop at SkySport, as it was by my house......sorry to hear it close.
bob paeth Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 James, If I may interject on the subject of hobby shops ..............If you can make it up to Portland ( Beaverton, actually ) you could visit Tammies. This LHS has got to be the best one west of the Mississippi and maybe East of it too. What do you want ? they carry a full line of RC, trains of all scales, shelve after shelve of all scale offerings in cars, trucks, motorcycles. Manufacturers from all over the world. After market parts are available also. Paints, glues, tools, you name it. If you like, they also carry airplanes, ships, sci-fi, monsters and materials for dioramas, such as trees, bushes and buildings. do you get the feeling that this is a hobby shop for everyone ? bob
LVZ2881 Posted April 5, 2007 Author Posted April 5, 2007 bob, you know, its funny, I lived in oregon for over a decade, and never made it to tammies!!!! that is an idea though... I'll be coming down the 26 from Astoria, headed to Salem, so i may just have to swing thru beaverton....
