mademan Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 well I posted pics of my 66 sometime ago, and havent had the time to work on it, I had a couple days off and picked it up again. for the chassis, I had to cut the rear wheel tubs and move them in roughly 4mm on each side to allow clearence for the pegasus 19inch torque thrust rims. I didnt have to narrow the frame at all, juct removed some extra plastic. I also cut the trunk out and am in the process of making a realistic trunk area, I filled inthe whole for the gas tank, and used a piece of styrene to make a wall at the back of the trunk, then smoothed out the mods to the wheel wells, it will be getting flocked later on. I then worked on the stance a bit more im still gonna run the 327 (street rat corvette kit) with a six dueces set up, the rear seat that came with the kit was a lame stock set, so i modified/cut down a 1970 monte carlo lowrider kit seat, I like the looks of it better then I picked up this 76 nova and am working on the stance of it it was missing the hood from factory, so i have orderd a resin cowl , like the one on the 66, I also used pegasus t`s, but used rear tires from the wagonrod kit to achieve the pro street look lmk what your thoughts on my projects are so far, im open to new ideas and critisism, so be honest
Steven Zimmerman Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 What are you going to use for the front suspension? I'm very interested in this one.....?.Steven Zimmerman aka the'Z'man
Bluzboy66 Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 You cannot go wrong with a 5-star rim on a Nova. I also dig the Holli's by Pegasus. Now you got me wanting to crack open one of my Nova kits! Mike Here are the Holli's on my '72 Chevelle........

Bluzboy66 Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Lyle Willits said: Just for the record, they are called "HELLAS" Lyle, Actually, they go by two different names..... The larger diameter rears are stamped < #2305 - 23" Holli's Chrome > on the Pegasus package, and the fronts (which are a slightly smaller diameter, but EXACTLY the same design) are stamped < #1277 - Hela's w/Tires > on the package. I've got multiples of these wheels, and they're all stamped with the same respective designations. Not exactly sure 'why' they're referred to differently, but there ya go. ANYWAY, now that we have all that cleared up, they're NICE wheels.........just know what you ordering/buying when you ask for them. Just for the record, the front AND rear wheels on the '72 Chevelle in the pic are indeed Hela's. Mike Here is my Road Runner which has the Holli's on the rear, and the Hela's on the front.....
Lyle Willits Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Thanks. I guess ya learn something new every day. I always thought that style were all called Hellas. I'm lucky enough not to have to order them. Plenty of vendors carry them here in Md.

I'm in Baltimore, Lyle. Overlea Hobbies keeps me well stocked. I'm also a MAMA member. I really hope to make the next meeting... Mike
ScrappyJ Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Looking good, Mike! I like the stance and wheel combo on both. What colors are you looking at?
ramonesblues Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Great stance on the Nova. Made my heart skip a beat. got to grab one of those kits!

The color on the Chevelle is Testor's Model Master British Green Metallic, with clear gloss. The Road Runner is Racing Blue metallic by Tamiya, along with a very light Candy Blue midcoat and Tamiya clear gloss lacquer. The pictures of the RR really turned out nice, but the photos of the Chevelle don't do the color justice. That British Green Metallic is incredible. Mike
BKIN10SECS Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 In my humble opinion, stance and wheel & tire choice is everything, it could make or break a car! And it looks to me that you are right on with both. The 66/67 Nova has always been a favorite...but I'll tell you I am really interested with the outcome of the 76....a much overlooked Nova.....keep it comming Bro.... Just one other thing...who did you order the resin hood from. The reason I ask is because I ordered a resin hood for a 67 Impala from A/FX Resin 6 months ago....no reply...no hood....but the checked was cashed. Thanks.
