I will try the coat hanger attached to a piece of wood first because that fits my budget right now.

One thing I did not think of in my reply and noticed in Rodney's pic was adding additional holes to the base.

That will give you multiple positions for any scale or size of body.

I plan on getting a Tamiya stand soon, however I did not see a method that I have used sometimes. I super glue a length of plastic sprue inside the body, and when dry and secure I use a very long hemostat clamp on the sprue which holds the body. I haven't lost a body yet and this method can also be used on other components also. I gotta give credit to Leon Tefft for this . :)

I have a few Tamiya products and a few home made ones, I prefer Donn's nipples...they're sturdy, don't easily fall over and you can easily and quickly twist and turn them to get great coverage on your plastic.

I have to comment on the widely acclaimed Tamiya Paint Stand. This is a nicely designed stand as far as holding the body secure. The problem I have with it is being able to thoroughly cover the body with paint. Due to the low nature of it I find myself picking it up in my hands to get good paint coverage to the underside surfaces .. like wheel well edges. I paint in a typical hobby paint booth.

So, it sits while my "never defeated", virtually free, coat hangers do their thing.

Uncomfortable with the visuals... Please stop.

John,

You're uncomfortable ? Those are my nipples that he's talking about , not yours ! Frankly . I'm scared to death !

On the serious note .... The nipples allow you to turn the body 360 degrees in every imaginable position , you will never miss a part of the body with your spray pattern again .
