Chad Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 so my local Hobby Shop finally got them in and they ordered two....the only bad thing( not that bad if the kit is as good as I hear )....is the price is 75.00.....hopefully it's definitely worth everything....now I just need to find a trailer to go with it....anyone got any ideas? custom stretched AMT reefer that's been updated to new style, the beall, or the possibly the italeri reefer? I really am thinking about the italeri reefer or custom building the stretched AMT....Im thinking in totally about blacking out one of them( wheels and all, no chrome what so ever ).... Chad

cdntrucker Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 yup got mine at model express also...................
Chad Posted May 15, 2011 Author Posted May 15, 2011 well I picked it up today ( crazy work schedule with the air show and all here on base )....I picked up 2 cans of black paint and now I have to find out where to get BMF from? my LHS has none and they only carry the black chrome BMF....I really want regular chrome...also trying to find an italeri 48' reefer whether it be a built-up saveable or a NIB from someone, I posted in the wanted section....but I doubt it lol Chad
Chad Posted May 20, 2011 Author Posted May 20, 2011 so I "finished" my lonestar last night, it's a pretty box stock O/O working for ERB, pulling a set of "box stock" CF tandems( done in ERB livery )...I just have to get the ERB decals from scale trucker to logo them. the truck is black with pearl clear and the trailers are black with pearl clear and chrome front ends... the only things added to the truck are: Chains on the rear grab handle( back of the sleeper ) 4 chime train horns on the back deck... I will try to get some pictures up in the next day or so but it's pretty hectic with getting ready to deploy...that means more money for me to build another ERB truck pulling the italeri 48' reefer lol. Chad
Chad Posted May 21, 2011 Author Posted May 21, 2011 Well I finally figured it out! Sorry for the crappy pictures, they're taken with my cell phone. Right now I have a tentative trade with a modeler on here to get the trailer I want/need....so these doubles will be put back on the shelves with another truck, this truck will be pulling a 48' spread stainless reefer....here's the newest addition to my truck parking lot and I must say, I am most proud of thise truck! Chad
Modelcollector Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 (edited) Guess I'm lucky. My LHS sold me mine for $69. No freight, no wait. If anyone is interested, there is a photo of the new Maxxforce 15 in the most recent issue of Overdrive magazine. www.overdriveonline.com Edited May 21, 2011 by Modelcollector
cdntrucker Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 received my lonestars today(3)..........wooooohoooo
Gray Smith Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I SERIOUSLY need to get one of these soon..hopefully a day cab conversion will be available soon...
Semi Trailer Mechanic Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Cool! That kit must be engineered well. Considering the time line from your first post to when you showed finished pics was only 6 days. These days It takes me 4 months just to get to the half way point on a project. I too picked up one of these kits. HobbyTownUSA hosed me on the price 85.00 but to me it's worth it. I like to physically look at an item on a shelf, pick it up , set it on the counter, and then pay for it.

The cab spent 2 of those days in paint while I built other items of the truck, the only thing I haven't done is recleared the body since I put the decals on. Everything practically fits together like a perfect puzzle. Quite a few of the pieces I wonder if the kit wasn't designed like a snap-tite kw, which I'd awesome for fitment and such! Hope this helps, also as for the price my local hobby town charged me 75 which is in my opinion.....well worth it! I will buy many many more of these kits and I usually buy one at a time....but I will have 2 or 3 maybe 4 of this kit. Chad
GeeBee Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Just ordered mine after reading the review in TMW magazine, hopefully I will have it a day or so, £48.49 inc shipping
