trey allen Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 (edited) Started this with priming everything yesterday. Today, I masked the pan for space frame painting, oi! Edited May 18, 2011 by trey allen
Chillyb1 Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Good luck with this project. I'm sure there'll be a lot of interest in it. The 910 is a very cool subject but that kit is a lot more model than I'm willing to undertake. So I'm glad you're doing it!
trey allen Posted May 18, 2011 Author Posted May 18, 2011 Thanks guys. Don't expect anything wonderful though. I have a lot to learn but im going to try hard
trey allen Posted May 20, 2011 Author Posted May 20, 2011 (edited) Anyone have any idea how to duplicate the finish of these fiberglass parts? I have a color matched for it. I was thinking of a black base coat, then spraying a watery yellow over it, but i dont know what to spray it on, like a stencil of sorts. http://www.pbase.com/9146gt/image/133971555 Edited May 20, 2011 by trey allen

I got a similar pattern for carbon fiber by spraying the darker shade through some fly-screen mesh....the plastic mesh often found on windows around the home.... It generally has a fairly small square pattern, maybe 2mm or smaller.... Great start by the way.

I would try on a scratch piece, maybe spray on the yellow/brown color and when it is tacky but not wet use a stiff fan brush or coarse grit file to rake the pattern on and use a black wash. Nothing proven, just a thought off the top of my head.
