Guest Markus355 Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 (edited) the real car: so far ive assembled the front and rear suspensions, and hope to get paint (and pictures tomorrow) the wheels are coys 17 inchers, which are not available in scale but the custom wheels from revells 55 bel air kit (goodguys) look close enough. the stripes will be tricky, as the kits decals arent offered in orange, but they shouldnt be too hard to mask off and paint. this is going to be fun! That's a great looking Camaro, if you contact this gentleman I think he may be able to make the decals you want in the orange... Kieth Marks Decals
Guest Markus355 Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 That's a great looking Camaro, if you contact this gentleman I think he may be able to make the decals you want in the orange... Kieth Marks Decals thanks, problem is, its not just orange its that burnt orange pearl you see on newer pontiacs, fusion orange. i think i may have a way to mask them and paint them cased out though. ill lay the decals out on a table or some suck, set a piece of glass over them, and i have some see through, adhesive backed film, that ill stick to the glas, and ill just trace out the shape of the decals onto that
LOBBS Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 That's a beautiful 1:1. I almost bought a similiar '72 back in high school but I couldn't drive a stick at the time so I passed. Beating my head on the table now a days for letting it go.
venom97 Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 I love seeing models being built to 1:1s! Can't wait to see this one finished, should look good!
Romell R Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 I love the camaro Markus , cant wait to see the model shape up.
Guest Markus355 Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 here are some pics early mockup, pleased to see the stance is pretty bang on what the 1:1 looks like. undercarriage (and yeah, the real car really IS this shiny and clean) finally gettin the hang of alclad... mimmicking our chromed master cylinder..
Bridgebuster Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Taking shape nicely. Keep us posted. 1970 was a watermark year in my book. Although there were many really sharp cars that year, the Camaro and the Cuda had my heart beating double-time.
Guest Markus355 Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 engine is nearly complete, save for wiring. so is the interior. just need to detail paint the dash board. astill waiting on paint/ debating whether or not to order reliable resins full bumper front end for it
jaydar Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Looks like a good start. What kit are you starting from? Good luck, joe.
Guest Markus355 Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 got the paint, and the kit is the model k,ing reissue of amt's 70 camaro Z28
Scale-Master Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Looking good. (I have a real '73 too that I need to get around to building a model of...) Are you changing the nose from an R/S to a standard to match your real one?
Guest Markus355 Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 i want to, but im unable to get the dencon conversion, so ill just build it as the RS
Scale-Master Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 i want to, but im unable to get the dencon conversion, so ill just build it as the RS Good excuse to change the real one to an RS nose?
Guest Markus355 Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 update.... Its painted! the orange is some paint left over from when we did the real car... so its 100% accurate.
redknight Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Your Camaro is beautiful and worthy of a scale replica. That's great that you were able to lay down the stripes with the true color.

Guest Markus355 Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 used a semi transparent adhesive film used in sheet metal shops used to seal the ends of ductwork for shipping.
