dannyi Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 .....I hate to keep bugging you guys, but my research had identified all but these two wheels. It looked like the first wheel my be from an early model Buick or Pontiac but I don't think it is. The spokes don't go all the way to the outer edge of the rim, they stop at a second inner ring. ....the second wheel may be Mopar, but I can't find any that looks exactly like it. The spokes appear to be straight and not wedge shaped like most are. There are lines in the cap that intersect in the center but don't go completely across to the opposite side. There's writing on the cap but way to small to read. ...as always any help would be greatly appreciated!...thnaks
Keef Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 the first wheel looks like the stock pontiac wheels offered in some of the mpc/amt kits, the 2nd wheels looks like the 67-68 shelby mustang wheels in the amt gt-350 or gt-500 mustang
george 53 Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 The first ones DO look like MPC Pontiac wheels. The second one came from the late 60's MPC Mopar kits. I remember that star on the cap from about 66 from the MPC Dodge Monaco kit. Hope this helps,Danny.
dannyi Posted June 4, 2011 Author Posted June 4, 2011 ...thanks guys, I really appreciate the help. Do you guys know if these were ever offered on the real cars? I must have looked at 100's of pics and couldn't find any........
Harry P. Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 ...thanks guys, I really appreciate the help. Do you guys know if these were ever offered on the real cars? I must have looked at 100's of pics and couldn't find any........ The Chrysler logo never had six points...
dannyi Posted June 4, 2011 Author Posted June 4, 2011 ..I researched wheel caps also to see if that may have been an after market wheel, no luck there either. Tried with magnifying glass to read the writing on the cap but it's just too small. I'll keep looking, might get lucky and find it somewhere......thanks again fellas....
Harry P. Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 I'm pretty shure the second wheel is a "Kelsey-Hayes Mag Star" from the AMT '67 and '68 Galaxie annuals. The kit wheel has grooves where there should be ridges and ridges where there should be grooves... But it does look like that's what they were trying to recreate...
dannyi Posted June 4, 2011 Author Posted June 4, 2011 ...fantastic guys...the pic of the Mag Star looks convincing to me, I'm going with that. You fellas came through again! Can't tell ya how much I appreciate the help, thank you!
