Maliburacr
I know FOR A FACT that he has BLATANTLY STOLEN the design for the Barton Hemi Super Stock intake from the master designed by Bud Lefevre. #1 > Fact....... that Barton Rat Roaster was MASTERED BY: Don Fahrni ! I like to get up in the morning, have my coffee and smoke and read my e mail. If I knew what my inbox was going to look like this morning I may have bypassed it this morning. I received numerous E mails directing me to this post. I would like to say that I DID master the Barton Intake that is cast by Perry's Resin. I still have the jig I fabricated to create the master, along with all the photos that I took of a friends ( Jeff Teuton ) car at Indy a few years ago. I DO NOT appreciate being called a liar! To say I am PISSED OFF would be a major understatement. Oh, and by the way, "Rat Roaster" is the trade mark of Edelbrock Co. and has nothing to do with Ray Barton Racing Engines. Jim Kampmann
Next, is the '72 Duster. This was made from an original Butch Leal California Flash Duster (hence the orange plastic). He received his casting from Billy Gooche (one Billy bought from me). Oh by the way Don, he still wants it back. Jim
Darin Bastedo
Here are some photos I took tonight. I'll let them speak for themselves. First up, the '68 Camaro. The first image is our master. doesn't anyone actually have one of these bodies that he is accused of copying? I keep seeing pictures of his stuff from ebay. The only thing I can tell by these photos are that these are two similar model bodies. I could modify my own camaro body to fit the same chassis and it would come out looking very much like both of these. Does anyone actually have the Reliable resin body and one of theirs in the same place at the same time so they can be seen side by side? Jim Kampmann
Darin, If he actually did the master, where is the photo? I can go on, and I think I shall! I'm almost done, really! Jim

Jim The orange car isn't an original master it's simply a kit body with the windows blocked out and the rear fenders modified. Are you going to tell me that that little bit of modification makes it your own work? if that's true the even the smallest of modification to an existing resin body would make it the original work of that caster. this example shows the pettiness of this whole arguement. Randy
I was asked to Put an End to this: #1 > Fact....... that Barton Rat Roaster was MASTERED BY: Don Fahrni ! No, Don's Barton was mastered by Don Fahrni. The Perry's Resin Barton intake was mastered by Bud Lefevre. They are different, from different masters. Perry's has separate runners. Bud's frustration comes from everyone doing things that are already done.

If changing the nose and cutting the wing supports down is all it takes to call it your own then so be it. It is a copy. Period. End of story. Slam Dunk. Whatever. By the way, I think mine looks better. I hate to tell you but I see a great deal of difference in the two bodies. First the obvious. The nose is completly different. second the rear fender humps are shaped different. They are rounded on your body, and squared off on his. as for the cut-outs for the wheelie bars, I assume both of these bodies were made to fit the Revell Pro-Mod chassis, that they would have to be in the exact same spot on both bodies to fit correctly. Third the roof on Don's corvette looks to be lower and the side window seems to be shaped differently. It also looks to me that his windshield is leaned back further. Now I realise that in this case we don't have too many similar angles to look at, which is why I've asked anyone who has both a reliable Resin body, and one of the bodies he's accused of copying to photograph them together. Most resin conversions I've seen are modfied kit bodies made into a different version, such as a roof swap or a change in trim, and the resin caster calls it his own work. Considering the amount of obvious difference here, even if he did base it on another resin, I think he has done enough work to call it his own. I also think that seeing how the other body isn't even available for purchase it's a moot point anyway.
Darin Bastedo
I have to agree with Andy, though ... I think his definitely looks better. Niether one is really my cup of tea, but I would have to see Don's finished to make a choice. I'm willing bet that someone really into drag stuff like Clay Kemp, could have siome fun with either body.
