  1. Randy, The contest is on Saturday, and you must leave the models there overnight (they're protected). The contest people will give you a free pass to get in on Sunday to pick up your models (and hopefully awards!). Jim Kampmann
  2. Randy, Your posts were a pleasant surprise; I'm glad you and your sons enjoyed the show as much as we did! Don't forget there's a model contest coming up at Back to the 50's next week. Our Club (RPM) is helping promote the show with support from MSRA. Hopefully it will be a success! Jim Kampmann
  3. Steve, I just saw your post about the decals. They are still available, you can order them through Model Empire in Wisconsin. We always stop there when our club goes to the NNL Milwaukee and the store carries Fred's entire line: http://www.modelempireusa.com/index.htm Jim Kampmann
  4. Steve, Nicely done! Always love seeing your models. Keep up the great work! Would love to see a 'how to' on building the hauler. Jim Kampmann
  5. Only three weeks away! http://www.nnlnorth.com/ Jim Kampmann
  6. Looks great from here! Nice job! Jim Kampmann
  7. Mike, No, Gene had a sister car to the Rambunctious Charger that Jake drove. He also drove another Snow Charger before the Revell cars came about. Slixx did the 'flame' Charger as well as what is referred to as the 'ram-horn' car. Thanks, Jim Kampmann
  8. Chris, I love the overall impact of your model; looks very cool! Now I have a use for that parts pack body! Thanks for sharing the model and the photos. Jim Kampmann
  9. Ken, The Flying Dutchman was a 'stock' looking Charger body, not the 'mini'. From what I've been told, the Mini-Charger wasn't legal for NHRA competition in '69, but was allowed in 1970. There was a second Gene Snow mini-Charger raced by Jake Johnston. Also I believe there were some raced in UDRA, but they would be pretty obscure. I'm happy to see Round 2 reissue the 'Cuda and '69 Mustang. We were trying to get Polar Lights to do a '69 Nova or '70 Camaro (Jungle Jim cars); maybe someday? Thanks, Jim Kampmann
  10. Ken, There was a second version of the Hawaiian Mini Charger; I sent some images to Slixx, we'll see if they can do it. There's a pretty good photo here: http://public.fotki.com/434499/drag-racing/funny-car-reference/hawaiian-foster-1.html Thanks, Jim Kampmann
  11. Here's a photo I found from one of the mail order houses. Jim Kampmann
  12. Chuck, Yours is painted, mine isn't yet. Hopefully this weekend. Unfortunately, life gets in the way! I have the chassis done and engine just needs to be wired. As for the body, I just redid the wheel wells. Yours looks closer to the original. What did you use for paint? Thanks, Jim
  13. Nice work Chuck as always! Looks like you're ahead of me. Gotta get cranking tonight. Jim
  14. Ben, The tires are from the kit, wheels from the Johan Mustang funny car. I thought it should be opened up since this was a unique feature on the car. I plan on making up a piano style hinge for it. I still need to make a lip around the opening and thin out the hatch. Thanks, Jim
  15. Len and Tim, Well, here it is so far; lots left to do, but I'm pretty happy with it. Thanks, Jim Kampmann
  16. Tim, I've been working on mine this evening and should be painting the chassis tomorrow. I spent a little time rounding the back sides of the frame rails as they're squared off from the molding process. I know you'll probably never see them, but I did it anyway. From what I've assembled so far, this thing just 'falls together'! Hopefully if it ever stops raining here I'll get the body painted this weekend. I will post photos soon! Thanks, Jim
  17. Ken, The comment from Brett about 'Tamiya-like' isn't far off. Everything is carefully packaged; the one piece frame is inside the body, windows are in a plastic bag(I know this is common now but it didn't used to be!). The chrome front axle has no visible seams. The tinwork is gorgeous! I know, how can you get excited about that?! The hinges are to scale. Everything is included on the decal sheet - including two 'remove before flight' tags! I'll admit, I wish the Halibrands were included in the box, but I have kits I can get them from. Not a big deal at all. I can't wait for the Hawaiian, it should be just as impressive! Jim Kampmann
  18. I got my hands on one last night and I agree with everything said here. The kit is FANTASTIC! I'm still pinching myself that we got an all new tooling of this car! My plan is to build a replica of the original CTH. Kudos to Revell for one of the greatest funny car kits of all time! Oh, and special thanks to Doughnut (you know who you are) for picking this kit up for me as the hobby shop ran out due to the kit being on backorder! Jim Kampmann
  19. Chuck, Looks great! Did you just graft the Polar Lights Charger sides into the Revell body? I was thinking of using the PL body and cutting the scoop from the Revell hood. But then I'm partial to those kits! Thanks, Jim Kampmann
  20. Ben, Not all of the funny cars back then had roof hatches. The Hustler was the exception, not the rule. The Hawaiian didn't have a roof hatch. So, you'll need to fill the hatch lines when building that car. As for the Jungle Jim Nova, the red car had a Hemi, so all you would need is the body and tinwork. Jim Kampmann
  21. Thanks Tim. It looks like they hit a home run with this one! I like the way they did the body, and of course the one piece frame is a great idea! Makes me think the Hawaiian will have a one piece Logghe type chassis. Here's a link for some great shots of the duplicate to the original car (Pat Minick had a 'new' car built when the original was restored for the Mopar Museum: http://public.fotki.com/TommyDz/the-chi-town-hustle-1/ Jim Kampmann
  22. Steve, Both the black and white Mach 1 stripes are included. Jim Kampmann
  23. Tim, Thanks for passing the information along. This is such a shot in the arm for the hobby! I think Revell finally 'gets it' when it comes to subject matter. I found some great shots of the Edelbrock midget here: http://public.fotki.com/wackydave/car_museums/vics-garage/ Makes me think Revell may have copied this trailer and car for the model! Clear the bench! Jim Kampmann
  24. Here is a link to the instruction sheet. All of the internet hobby sites say it will be out later this month: http://manuals.hobbico.com/rmx/85-4286.pdf Clear the bench! Jim Kampmann
