  1. Here are some pretty good photos of the Bostrom seats (as well as other detail shots) of the Hemi Darts: http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/featuredvehicles/a_body/mopp_0806_1968_hemi_dodge_dart/photo_03.html http://image.carcraft.com/f/26837735/ccrp_0810_09_z+1968_dodge_dart_hemi_nhra+interior_view.jpg http://image.carcraft.com/f/26837747/ccrp_0810_13_z+1968_dodge_dart_hemi_nhra+car_door.jpg I'm thinking of using the Tbolt seats and modifying those. 2. Bob, Hope you can make it, we really appreciated the work you did for Gregg / Model Cars. Jim Kampmann
  3. Nice work Cap! Love the paint and engine detail! Jim Kampmann
  4. Here's a photo by Tom Nagy of the Herb McCandless car (was Glidden's). Jim Kampmann
  5. First of all Wayne, very nice model and great photos too! But, I have to disagree with the wheelbase discussion. If you're not sure, grab an NHRA rulebook from the era you're building from. The Herb McCandless and Glidden cars are one in the same. Bob had the car built and didn't like it, so it was purchased by Herb. Also for future reference, there was no cowl vent behind the hood. That is, the hood should extend all the way to the windshield. Jim Kampmann
  6. For those of you coming to the NNL North this year, there will be another event on the same weekend you might want to check out: Mopars in the Park, 2010, June 5 and 6 in Farmington, MN. (just about 30 minutes south of the Mall of America). Here's the website of the host club: http://www.midwestmopars.com/ This year's event: Special Guests and Attractions The Hawaiian Roland Leong’s The Hawaiian 1970 Dodge Charger AA Funny Car will be one of the headliners at the Midwest Mopars in the Park National Car Show & Swap Meet. Legendary drag racer and tuner Roland Leong, his driver Larry Reyes, and the original “Hawaiian†Dodge Charger AA/Funny Car will reunite for the 40th Anniversary of winning the 1970 Winternationals. Larry Reyes will sit behind the butterflies and Roland Leong will do the rest as the legendary duo will “cackle†one of Roland’s original Funny Cars, now owned by Kathy Mosely. Don’t miss this once in a life time opportunity to hear, feel and smell an original piece of American racing history. Chi-Town Hustler One of the most popular floppers of the 70s was the Farkonas, Coil & Minick Chi-Town Hustler and it will be hand too. Starting life as a flip-top Cuda in 67, the team debut the now infamous Charger in 1968. Considered THE killer car of the period, the Chi Town typically covered the field by 2 tenths of a second and drove fans to the brink with its long smoky burnouts. Drivers throughout the 70s included Clare Sanders, Ron Colson, Russell Long, Denny Savage, Pete Williams and of course, Pat Minick. Greg Mosely now owns this legendary icon of NHRA history and we are indebted to him for bringing it to our show. Also on display this year you will find John Hagen’s famous Plymouth Arrow and Fred Hurst’s Hemi Cuda. Both of these fabulous cars are owned and displayed by Clark Rand. Back by Popular Demand The Sox and Martin race team truck rig complete with Ronnie’s 1968 Super Stock Barracuda and 1967 Super Stock Belvedere loaded and ready to go racing is back! Last year saw this fabulous collection owned and displayed by Clark Rand and staffed with none other than the late Ronnie’s beloved wife Diane Sox mobbed with endearing fans the entire weekend. Come meet the lady that drove the man that won everything. “Miss Mighty Mopar†Judy Lilly and her Volare’ are returning to the largest all Mopar Show in the Midwest. If you missed your chance to meet the classiest lady in racing last year, be sure to stop by and see Judy. She holds the Division 5 Super Stock Championship many times and has numerous NHRA national events including the Winternationals and the Summernationals. “Akron†Arlen Vanke and his newly restored 1970 Plymouth Duster on loan from Andy Helfer will be on display. This will be the first time this car has seen the light of day in many years as it was recently discovered and meticulously restored to its race ready condition of 1970. In 1970 Arlen became the first man in the history of auto racing to win all five WSC points meets where in the NHRA nominated him their “Man of the Year†in ProStock besides presenting him with two other national awards for technical merit in engine development. Beside that, Arlen is just plain fun to have at the show. Don Grotheer and his pit crew and wife of 52 years Joann along with their 1968 Super Stock Hemi Barracuda will be on hand. During his successful racing career Don conducted performance clinics in his “off†time between races and you are in for real treat as history comes alive again. Don and several others will be conducting a roundtable forum on Saturday afternoon in the Registration Building. This is a very rare opportunity and you may never see it happen again – don’t miss this! Landy Family Reunion In keeping with a new tradition, the show will reunite another racing legend’s family with their car (2009 reunited Judy Lilly with her first race car). This year will see Dick Landy’s surviving family: his wife Jeannie and his son Richard Jr., reunited with Dick’s 1967 Hemi 4-speed Coronet, now owned by Erik Lindberg. The Coronet is the horse Dick rode to Super Stock stardom after he changed drag racing forever with his mind-blowing altered wheel base cars. Come and be a part of this emotional re-connection. Mopars in the Limelight In what promises to be the largest ever assembled movie and TV car display you will see, these great cars will be on hand along with several others still awaiting final confirmation. Check the website: www.midwestmopars.com for continued updates. Christine What movie car display would complete without the queen of all movie cars – Christine. That’s right, the 1958 Red and White Plymouth Fury that scared the bejesus out of us for decades (and still does for that matter) will make her debut appearance after being totally and meticulously restored. You have to see this car and talk nice to her. If you don’t, well you know what happens. Owner Bill Gibson of Pensacola FL, who calls himself Christine’s mortal caretaker, will be on hand along with several pieces of Christine movie artifacts to chat with and answer any questions about Christine. Vanishing Point 2 The 1970 Hemi Challenger used in the movie Vanishing Point 2. This is one of the “dirty†cars as Hollywood calls them. It has “dirt†painted right on the car. That’s enough to make most of us cry but in this case we are grinning ear to ear as owner Ted Stephens of Stephens Performance loans us the car for our first ever display of iconic movie and TV cars. Stop in and see him – better yet buy something from them! A Serious Man The 1966 Coronet used in the Coen Brothers movie A Series Man. Ask owner Curt Lawson how many times does a Ford Falcon have to hit the rear end of a Coronet before it dies? Mannix The 1972 Cuda convertible driven by Mike Connors in the popular 70’s TV detective series Mannix. Everybody wanted this car back then – admit it. Owned and displayed by Ken Schwanke. The Mod Squad The 1972 Challenger convertible driven by Peggy Lipton, Michael Cole and Clarence Williams III in Aaron Spelling’s late 60’s early 70’s TV detective series The Mod Squad. This was the hippest of all TV detective series – flower power baby! Owned and displayed by Ken Schwanke. The Sara Conner’s Chronicles The 1968 Dart GT convertible (see a pattern here?) used in the TV series The Sarah Conner’s Chronicles. “I’ll be backâ€. Owned and displayed by Dean Quimby. Medical Center The 1972 Challenger Convertible driven by Chad Everett or Dr. Joe Gannon as we all came to know him by in the TV series Medical Center. The cool thing about this car is it’s story after it left the show – you’ll have to ask owner Dean Quimby about it when you see him!

  8. Dave, They took the Goodyear lettering off the slicks for the Model King Mongoose f/e dragster, so I'm assuming they'll be that way from now on. Jim Kampmann
  9. Here it is Bud: http://www.hlj.com/product/TAM20059 They're listing it as a December release. Jim Kampmann
  10. That does sound cool, especially if you could paint the hauler up in Candy Red paint to match the wheelstander! My only problem with the L700 is that cab - the real truck didn't tilt forward like that. Jim Kampmann
  11. Looks fantastic Tim, thanks for keeping us in the loop! Guess I will preorder my case now! Thanks, Jim Kampmann
  12. See you on Sunday!
  13. I've got the correct rear window shape, I just have to do the rest of the body For those who don't want to wait for the daydreams to become reality, Replicas & Miniatures Co. of Maryland has the '32 Ford pickup complete resin kit (with or without fenders) and , of course, the sedan delivery body. Don't forget they also have a Vicky body too! Jim Kampmann
  14. Dave, You might try the headers from the Revell Baldwin Motion '70 Chevelle kit that came out earlier this year. Jim Kampmann
  15. Here's another angle (sorry for the fuzzy photo!) Thanks, Jim Kampmann
  16. Thought I would post a couple photos of my 150 since I got it up on wheels for the first time yesterday. Now I just have to finish it! Got inspired by a '56 SS/O Chevy in the latest Drag Racing magazine so I thought I would build my '57 similar to that setup. Engine isn't finished and neither is the interior. Engine will have the Jerico trans. Chassis is the AMT newer '57 street machine. Paint is Tamiya orange with Testors Classic White lacquer. Tires are from the 150 kit (front) and Polar Lights funny cars (rear). Got a lot left to do but hopefully it will be in Milwaukee next month! Thanks for looking! Jim

  18. Thanks Doughnut, for the kind words. The decals are available from Don, and I succeeded in getting everything to Don to put on the sheet except for the Cobra Jet logo on the seats (I couldn't find a good photo of the interior until after the decals were done). It's a really neat car and I got excited about it since I am a huge Ford fan and own a 1:1 GT. There is a possible article in the works for MC - I need to pursue it with Gregg. Jim Kampmann
  19. I found it online at a more reasonable price. Obviously there are shipping charges, but if you buy enough it offsets the cost. I thought there were some nice parts in this kit, like the narrow Cragars. It's got some issues, but the Cobra Jet was one of my favorite Mustangs. Jim Kampmann
  20. Bill Coulter asked me to post these; he built this for the Toledo NNL. It's cast in black resin (!). He's since added the license plate detail. Pretty cool, yeah?!
  21. RPM of Minnesota: http://www.rpmmodelclub.com/ Jim Kampmann
  22. Looking forward to meeting everyone this Saturday! Thanks Bob, in advance!(I heard you were coming). Thanks Gregg too! Jim Kampmann NNL North #10
  23. Here's my latest project - suppose to be done for the 'Cuda build off. We'll see. 1970 SS/DA 'Cuda, built to today's rules Just about ready for paint (will be Sublime). Click on the link to see more: http://picasaweb.google.com/JimKampmann/CudaBuildOff Jim Kampmann
  24. Here's my second '32 Ford of this year (inspired by Tim Boyd and the great new kit of course). Extremely lowered suspension, front tires from the '32 Highboy kit. Wires were stripped and painted Tamiya light green, Baremetal foiled caps. Body color is Testor's Emerald Green Metallic Lacquer. Engine is (so far) out of the box, but will use the air cleaner from the Revell '46 Ford convert. These kits are a blast to build! Jim Kampmann
  25. We meet on the third saturday of every month. Here are this month's photos: http://picasaweb.google.com/JimKampmann/RPMClubMeeting Our club website: http://www.rpmmodelclub.com/ Thanks for looking! Jim Kampmann
