A Camry CHiP car???? ;):D

By the way, James, a bunch of pictures went missing?

Charlie Larkin

Charlie the CHiP's test all sorts of makes and models every year. They test them in Sacramento in their facility, then send them out to the Highway Patrolmen. The vehicles go to all parts of the state so their performance can be evaluated in different enviornments, desert, mountains, coast etc.

James, I will admit the car did perform well for our purposes.

I now some PD used some odd choices for patrol cars. Cotati, California used Mazdas in the early 70s. You can understand my surprise when one pulled up to me to ask questions of me. I was hitching through the town. Some California cities had late 70s, early 80s Novas as squads as well. One odd car was the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Corvette DARE program car. I saw it pull over a speeder once. Must have been on the way to a car show or school event.
