Thanks for the invitation, but Decatur is three hours south of me (my daughters both live in Urbana and that's a 2-3/4 hour drive... Decatur is even further).

I do appreciate the invitation, but I don't think I want to do seven hours and almost 400 miles of driving (with gas at $4+ a gallon) to attend a club meeting. No offense... I hope you understand.

Thanks Harry :P

We have been talking of a meeting in Champaign in future. Maybe then

As a fellow Illinois resident, glad to have one of us at the top here on the board. ;)

I'm from Springfield originally (actually, Pawnee, to be specific). My mom had relatives living in Pawnee, Auburn and Springfield. My dad went up to Chicago to look for work, and when he found a job in the "big city" he sent for my mom and me. I was a year old. Spent the next 27 years in Chicago before moving out to the 'burbs with the wife and son...

Oh the thoughts I am having......................

Springfield huh? I spent a week there one night.

I was a suburb dweller who moved to the city. When I started on the PD, we had a residency requirement. Naturally, just before retirement, 28 years later, they relaxed the rule and I could move anywhere. So I did, I moved to Las Vegas! Fooled them

In laws are in Antioch, BIL manages the Ford dealership in Liberty Bell. Small frickin world huh?

If you meet in Champaign I can always use it as an excuse to go down there and check up on the girls... ;)

Did you know Leslie Knope? (yeah, Indiana I know...)

I need to make a trip to Urbana and Champaign sometime...one of my closest friends from grad school is a professor at the U. of Illinois now. I almost chose UIUC for grad school, but went to the U of Michigan instead. I've been to Chicago many times and spent a couple summers in the '90s living w/ friends in Lincoln Park. Almost moved to the Schaumburg area when I moved to Colorado in '97.

I still contemplate the Chicago area for my next move, though the winters are not as nice as Arizona.. ;)

My oldest daughter graduated from U of I... she liked the area so much she decided to stay there after graduating. Now her kid sister lives there, too. C/U is a cool city (cities?)... I can see why my girls like it there.
