Here's a little project I had in mind for months: a Ford 50 pick up I'd like to build nearly stock with most of the chromes, stock rims and caps, ...

- I've just shaved the big FORD lettering in front of the hood and the F1 logo on both sides

- dropped the truck to the ground

- added the wood stacking sides (from a Ford 40 pick up)

- added Appleton's spotlights from my part box

These pics were taken today as I did a last mockup to validate the general stance

I already have in mind the colors I'll use for this baby but I won't tell you much for the moment

This is a kit that I keep looking at to buy, but keep putting it off for some reason.

I had heard that the fit of the hood to the firewall and front fenders wasn't very good. Looking at the pictures of yours I think I can see what they meant. Is it just the picture or is the kit really bad in this area? I know AMT had a similar issue with the hood on their '40 Ford kits.

I would appreciate your critique on this issue with the kit.

BTW... I also like where you're going with this, so I'll be following along.

Thanks,

Tony

Hi Tony,

as said, it's just a mockup. I'll build this model curbside (no engine) so I'll glue the hood and it will fit on the fenders.

But for someone who would build the complete model, my point is this fitting issue may be cause by the way the floor of the cab connects with the firewall, I'll take a picture to explain what I mean.

I think I see what you mean. If the cab sits down on the frame, then the hood would also sit lower and the gap would disappear.

It that case, I'll try to find one for myself.

Thanks for clarifying that for me Denis.

Just picked up one myself! Thinking of doing a nose in the ground look with black pearl base and candy apple over it. I'll be looking in at yours!

Hi Guys

some pics of my WIP 99,99% complete

my problem is that I just can't make my own white decals on transparent background

so I've made a mockup with Photoshop to show you what I had in mind.

In fact I've built the truck like a speedshop thuck but not exactly as this one is "barber shop" truck dedicated to Mr Ducktail

For those who have never heard of Mr Ducktail, he's a French barber (now established in London)

He became famous in the r'n'r scene as one on the best barber using flick knife to cut hairs

Here's the guy:
