Growing up in Wisconsin I always saw trucks on the road from the Diesel/Driving School in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. My family used to joke that is where I would be going to school someday.

I found this photo on line (I don't know who the original photographer is)

And thought it would be a good project to build - I had a partially started AMT Fruehauf van - even though I never remember the school having spread axle vans, this just has a late 60's look to it.

After the white cured, I masked it off, sprayed another coat of white, then applied the red. I had very little bleed under of the red.

The logos I printed on Bare Metal Foil white decal paper.

The tractor in the photo isn't true to form, the school would have had White 7000, GMC Crackerboxes or White-Freightliners in the red/white scheme. The tractor in my photos is a Mack G daycab for Neuendorf out of Madison. I made that cab from a reworked AMT Kenworth K123 cab.

Thanks! The tractor is a Mack G COE that I built several years ago using a Kenworth K123 cab I think.

Nice rig! I like the spread axle setup on that trailer. Nice spare tire rack also. I see the fuel tanks and possibly the front grab handles from a GMC Astro on the Mack, real good work on the transformation from the Kenworth.

I don't show it much as the bodywork is really poor. The grille really isn't that crisp and I think my headlamps are way too large. The G cab that Dave Natale has is much better.

Nicely done trailer Tim, a great idea for a build, not just a trailer, not part of a huge transportation fleet but jut a school driving, thats cool!!!

About thet truck, I am not familiar with those ol cabovers, but if you haven't mensioned before, when I first saw it I thought it was an old kit, or a resin transkit, but not a reworked KW cab.

Once again I am speechless with the art in you pictures, the fourth picture, truck and trailer passing the highway with the sunlight on the side, look at the marker lights on the roof of the truck... lights are ON!!!!

Hey Tim! I know they were still going in the middle 70's as the wife's cousin went there and tried to get me to go. (I learned from an old neighbor who was an O/O!)

At that time I know they had an 4070 International or two. That was what he trained in.

When ever we came up on one the old guy would tell me to hurry and get by them before something goes wrong!!!

Almost forgot, love the build, a really obscure build for sure but a part of trucking's back pages!

Maybe Green Bay-Chicago was the name ? Green Bay-Chicago on Hanks Truck Pictures

They ran green Macks the ones with the offset cab. You wouldn't happen to remember the name of that company would you?
