Johnny Racer Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 I have a nephew that is in love with Ice Road Tuckers and I want to create a model of one of the trucks from the show. Does anyone have a clue what model Kenworth's are being use on the show? Are there available kits out there to purchase of that model? Thanks in advance.
highway Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 The ones like Lisa Kelly drives are W900Ls, and Porky at P&P Resin Works has a couple different items that would work for those trucks. http://www.ppvintagekits.com/index.html As for decals, check out Modeltruckin.com, Jerry responded to requests from a few of us here and has decals for the Carlile trucks, and even includes the number for Lisa's truck. http://modeltruckin.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_10_19&products_id=360 You can even get the blue paint from Scalefinishes!
highway Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Oh, and by the way, if you need some pics, let me know. I have a few.
mackinac359 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 The other Carlile trucks common to the series are KW T800 and T800W (wide front). Tim Oh, and by the way, if you need some pics, let me know. I have a few.
mr cheap Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 (edited) note theses trucks are customized to work in the deep cold ...i do not know what they do or if matters Edited July 27, 2011 by mr cheap

Tim Thanks Tim, I always forget what the model numbers of those are! Here are a couple pics I found, too. I think this is the wide front T800. And of course the W900. I found a few other oddballs of the Carlile fleet, too! Freightliner Classic Western Star Kenworth T600 And for Tim, even a Peterbilt!!
69A-CAR Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I love that T800W C-1576 truck, real tuff truck! Question, what are those air cleaners called with the inlet directed back into the engine compartment?? Mark

Question, what are those air cleaners called with the inlet directed back into the engine compartment?? Mark I'm guessing you mean the strange looking one on C-1576? I don't know, but it could be an extra inlet since the heavy haulers would need more air to breathe. That's the first time I've ever seen an air cleaner set up like that. Any help Tim??
chuckyr Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 A natural for the old Revell of Germany T600A Kenworth T600
mackinac359 Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 The air cleaner is getting it's air intake from under the hood, air heated by the heat of the engine compartment instead of the cold/snowy air. highway Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 also note the very cold weather winch with snow ice cover....see the heavy ele cord engine heater.... my my what did i miss.. mirrors.. fuel tanks.. mosse defector.ololololololololol If you are talking about the black and yellow piece on the front bumper, that is not a winch. If you watch the show, you would know that is a bumper they use for using that truck not only as a power unit towing trailers, but also as a power unit used for PUSHING heavy hauls. If you watch and pay attention to the show, you will see the same rubber bumper on the front of Lisa Kelly's truck, since she not only hauled a heavy haul this season, but was a push truck at least three times in the past two seasons. As for the engine heater, that's nothing special on a diesel. My Ford F-350 has one, and it never sees temps anywhere near that cold!

Tim Thanks Tim, I know what they are in the basic sence. They have been around for ages, I was wondering if anyone knew who made them??
