rickd13 Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Does anyone know where to get decals for the Revell 1:25 scale '69 Dodge Charger kit? The decals that came with the kit are just disintegrating when I put them in the water. They must be very old. The kit box says copyright 1998. I have put in an order for a new decal sheet with Revell online.I want to know if there is a place where I can get the white bumble bee R/T stripe and the thin white stripes for the tires in case Revell can not fill the order. Actually I would like to know where I could get stuff like that even if Revell can fill the order. I do not think Mike's scale speed shop has them, but I could be mistaken. The Mopar decal combo set that they offer for $18, does not have what I'm am looking for in it. I know this because I bought that set for a different car I was doing. Any help or information would be much appreciated.
Drake69 Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 (edited) Keith Marks (http://public.fotki.com/mofobow/) can be emailed at mofobow@hotmail.com. He has an extensive list of decals for the '69 Charger and you will need to request the color of your trunk lid stripes when you order from him. As far as the redline tire decals, several other kits have decals for them like the '65 Mustang 2+2, lots of the Dodge kits, etc. But there is a vinyl redline pack you can get (not sure who makes them, "Scale Master" I believe...) that will work. They also carry whitewalls in thin line and fat line, not too sure about any other colors though. You can also get yourself a bottle of Liquid Decal Film from Micro Scale to protect the remainder of the decals you have. Dip a brush in it, then brush across the decal while it's still on the paper until you have an even coating, then let dry for several hours. When you're ready to use the decal, cut it from the paper as close to the decal line as possible, because the film will remain on the paper portions of the decal you don't trim off. Dip it in warm water for 30 seconds, then hold the decal by the edges of the paper and with damp fingers, start rubbing the decal towards the end of the paper. You still have to be careful removing the decals from the paper, but the LDF will make them much stronger and more resistant to fracturing. HINT: YOU WILL NEED LDF WHEN TO BUY AFTERMARKET DECALS OR FOR WHEN YOU MAKE YOUR OWN. Also, do not use LDF ON a model, especially when it's painted. It will eat through your paint!!!!
