Draggon Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 I had some brush painted stuff that would not lift without a lot of soaking and help from me. Some of the guys swear by Dawn Power Dissolver. I've had the best luck with brake fluid and purple power, however they both need to be fresh to work. Testors or someone makes a product called "easy lift off" that you could try. Ive found that sometimes it takes days to work and needs a lot of help with toothpicks or scrub brushes.
a/gass Posted August 10, 2011 Author Posted August 10, 2011 thanks like i say any help - brake fluid allways works for me just not on this stuff?? ive been pickin at it for a copple months now ??? i just dont get it?? never had this problem befor been stripen em since the 70`s?? this is a first for me.im gonna try all ? if any thing works ill tell every one.
TurboKitty Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 x2 for Dawn Power Dissolver. It's less than $3 at Wal Mart and it works great, make sure you wear rubber gloves when handling a coated part because it is a bit rough on the hands. Scuff the areas a little bit with some 600 or 800 grit sandpaper until you can see the plastic underneath (it will allow the Dawn to soak through better), then spray the problem areas good. Let it sit for about 45 minutes, and use an old toothbrush to scrub it off. If you leave it too long it'll dry, but add a little water, scrub, and rinse good. This stuff works so well for me it's the only thing I use now lol.
a/gass Posted August 10, 2011 Author Posted August 10, 2011 ill let you know thursday - this will be my next try.thanks mike.
Scale-Master Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 If you post a picture it might helps us see what the problem is...
a/gass Posted August 12, 2011 Author Posted August 12, 2011 well so far it took off a little more ? but what i have noticed is it got under the glue ????and some how made it hard??dont know how to describ it i was pokin around with a tooth pic and where parts were glued in it started chipin out?thought i would have to sand this stuff out but it just started popin loose?to check this i sank just the back of interior in the stuff and noticed (where the battery was glued in) that white spots started showing up in the glue (looked like frozen air bubbles in ice puddles ?) and when poked with a pin it would shater like glass and pop out? crazzy? the plastic is still damaged by the glue but it looks a lot easyer to fix - insted of grinding it out now its little pits and chanels to fill in ? at lest i thinks this is better lol.thanks for info ill up date on paint problem but if nothing elis discovered a way (i think)to debond testers glue ?im gonna lay down blobs of glue on pices and test this more.
