Dr. Cranky Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Wow, has anybody been checking out the price for circa 70s vans? I'm looking for a 73 and I just can't believe the prices! Perhaps it's time they brought one back just to quiet the hankering of many of us.
Chuck Most Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 The A-Team vans were reissued not too long back, and they're still pretty cheap. But yeah, you do have to look for deals on the van kits. (Great score on the Ford and Dodge by the way, Steve! Especially the Ford, that's a SCREAMING deal!) I paid 40 a few years back for an MPC 'Wanted Van' (similar to the Rescue 911 van but with the correct grille), and felt like I made off like a bandit on that one.
Dr. Cranky Posted August 13, 2011 Author Posted August 13, 2011 Thanks, chaps . . . yes, I am NOT in desperate need of one (it's just a hankerin', as Doctor Cranky would call it), but I certainly would like to have one in my collection just to feel 1970s complete! LOL. These are very cool vans indeed. Thanks for your help.
Eshaver Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Cranky, I'm actually surprised as to why the Model companies , or whats left of them haven't seen fit to offer a couple of Re- issues of at least the Ford and the older Camper version of the Chevrolet . Shoot, aside from the Whacked - out era in which they came . the dreadful automobiles that were on the road were certainly by no means deserving of being made into plastic kits. For example, M P C's Monza or A M T's Vega kits . I'll admit , the sales of these kits today might be not in the top ten as say another 57 Chevrolet . Still, the tools have more or less been paid for .The interest is there as I too have noticed Ford Vans in particular always getting a decent price . Hey, go to the Van sites and price out a 1-1 van that relatively "RUST Free " , complete and re- build able Besides , I was a manufacturer of Custom and Recreational vehicle accessories in the seventies Having some of these kits available to me again would be a welcome sight . Ed Shaver.
Dr. Cranky Posted August 13, 2011 Author Posted August 13, 2011 Ed, I think they make great model subjects.
