DrewCfromSC Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Hello all, got a nice varity of paints and im getting ready to start airbrushing. I sprayed a teat body with houe of kolor catch me copper and it is a nice color but flat. What gloss do you like to use over house of kolorpaints? Im going to buy some different spray cans as well as airbrush compatible. Thanks in advance for your replies. Another ???????? what about thinners for paints such as alcad, model master, and createx. Got some of them to try out too. Drew C from SC.
Mike Kucaba Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 For a start,I'd recommend using something from the same manufacture of the color. You've used HOK color so a good one to go with would be HOK clear. For me personally I use PPG DCA 468 high- performance clear and a couple of their acryllic lacquer thinners DTL 105 and 876. These are shot thru an airbrush or the aircan adapter by Testor's when I'm feeling lazy Always try and test on a plastic spoon.
DrewCfromSC Posted August 14, 2011 Author Posted August 14, 2011 Thanks! Seems like I didnt think to buy clear when buying paints. Got a couple of spray cans to rey today on some older junkers. Drew C.
High octane Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I have used Testors clear over House of Kolor paints in the past with good results. I also have used HOK clear and that works as well.
DrewCfromSC Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 Thanks for this info. Buying different clears now, cans and airbrush style. Getting my airline set up this weekend. Still got an old plug it in unpug it air Badger 80-2 compressor.
