Cool! Has this kit just been released? It's a re-pop of the old monogram kit, right?? Are there any "new" parts & doe's the decal sheet come with the Road-Runner decals for the wing now??

I see you have removed the oil filter from the front cover and have a Revell 1/25th scale Charger front engine dress/belt assembly laying behind it. I have to agree with your choice there, as the kit supplied belt/dress is junk and only has the water pump and alternator pulley. Be advised, even though the dress in 1/25th scale and the engine is 1/24th, the spacing between the water pump pulley and the crank pulley is taller on the 1/25th unit! If you are going for a well detailed 440+6, scratchbuild a harmonic balancer unit for the lower (crank) pulley, and use an oil pump/oil filter from another engine (I believe mine came from a Revell 440 kit engine). The alternator from an AMT/MPC engine can be substituted for the kit supplied unit.

Cliff, the decal sheet does NOT contain any of the Warner Brothers characters (the Bird graphics), but does have some generic 'custom' panel decals for the rear wing uprights. They do have a fair set of sponsor decals on the sheet though, and the '426 C.I.D' call-outs for the 'NASCAR' type letter-up are included. Other than that and the no-name tires, this is a direct re-pop of the original release.

I reliezed that after I did a test fit. No to worry as I have a pully set coming from JB Hobbies (Whenever the darn things get here, it's been 4 weeks..) Along with a oil filter and some other goodies. A PS Pump and altenator will be sourced from a Revell '69 Charger

Well it seems I can't continue the engine until I get my parts from JB Hobbies (I am pissed, it's been 4 1/2 weeks) And I can't continue the body until I can figure out how to remove the sticky stuff my masking tape left. (Any help?) I'm ticked.

I painted the body with Tamiya Laquer TS-10 French Blue. Tamiya polishing cremes are not availible in my area for some odd reason.

They're available all around the world. Go online and buy it.

WD-40 works great to take off tape residue - then you need to remove the WD-40...soap and warm water usually works for me.

Does it take of the tamiya paint?

Here's the cheapest & easiest way to remove sticky tape residue.... Tea-Tree oil  Nearly every store/chemist sell's it! You don't need a credit card to buy it either  It'll set you back less than a couple of bucks 

Use a nice clean cotton cloth, wipe it down until the sticky residue is off & then wash it with sone soapy water & rinse 

Ok, first off, school work is so boring. Second off, I got finished with the school work so I sat down and did a few small things to the 'bird.

I managed to snap this pic of the mold lines before I romoved them and painted the body.

I drilled out the distributer. (My first time doing this.)

106_0566.jpg

Here the distributer is in place and wired up. I did not like the look of the plated carbs so I stripped them and painted them gold.

I started detailing the Rallye rims sourced from another member here.

Stay tuned for the next post!

Can't. Parent's don't have credit cards. Wish they did..

Nice build little brother. I'm watching. Do you want me to get some polishing stuff for you and run it down to you? I can order whatever you want and will trust you to have the cash to pay me back. Good chance for us to meet face to face. PM me if interested.

What kind of flocking material did you use Brandon? Looks really nice!

I used Ken's Fuzzy Fur for this one.

Looks good so far. The air cleaner is from the AAR Cuda, with the Superbird decal isn't it?

As to the Rallye wheels; it looks like you have painted the holes black. That is a good idea, but I would go back and touch the faces up with silver paint. The lug nut detail could be picked out with the same silver paint (or wiped off with a thin brush wet with thinner).

Have you thought about going back in with a brush and some black paint to define the chrome trim you painted on the interior door panels? With all the other extra work you are doing, it will pay off.
