SuperStockAndy Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Hey guys-like the title says, I probably won't be building. I'm saving up money to get a lift kit for my truck (which is $416 ), and I want to get that kit as soon as possible. So basically-any WIP projects of mine waiting on paint will probably be a while.
a/gass Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 well youll be building just not in scale lol.have fun take care mike.
Lownslow Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 i wont get much benchtime either now that i got a up to date gaming PC and with school starting the bench will become a no zone
LAone Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 haha, well building up 1:1's are just as much fun. it's cool man, no worries.
SuperStockAndy Posted August 20, 2011 Author Posted August 20, 2011 I'm looking forward to doing my truck...I'm so broke it's gonna take some time though...
whale392 Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 If you already have a stash of kits, there is no need to stop building. I have 4 project Mustangs and 2 project bikes, plus my daily driver wanting money from 'daddy's wallet.........and I still find the time to do some parts-sticking in scale without having to spend (due to my stash of kits/paint).
SuperStockAndy Posted August 20, 2011 Author Posted August 20, 2011 I've got a good stash going....but no paint
Dragracer Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Well, I guess thats a pretty good reason (not a great reason, but a pretty good one ), I'll let you go & save for your truck Andy (like you need my permission!, but just in case you do, you have it  ), get back as soon as you can tho, your builds will be missed for awhile!
SuperStockAndy Posted August 20, 2011 Author Posted August 20, 2011 Thanks everyone I can still do models I already have the paint/parts for. Again, it's not because I don't have time, I just need to save my money. Too bad models aren't $1.49 anymore
diymirage Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 better get used to it andy, unless you marry for money this is the story of our lives one a more serious note though, if i could make a suggestion, walmart has thier 97 cent paint cans i have a few models i painted with those and though they are not showroom qaulity not every build calls for a showroom quality finish does it? just the other day i say a 1:1 mustang (think it mighta been a 66) and it had a nice shiny red paintjob on it i thought it looked perty cool but a day later i saw a similar stang in flat black primer and that ride looked menacing i think this might be the time to build one of those "couldnt afford a paintjob cos i spend all my moneys on a hemi and blower" type builds
Jon Cole Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 I've got a good stash going....but no paint Model building as a hobby isn't just buying kits. A true hobbyist also stocks up on supplies such as paint. I have more paint than I will ever use, just like the kits. And like the kits, it takes time. I think if you really want to build a model you already have, you can find a way to buy a can of paint.
