Dupli-Color "Auto Spray" Primer / Tamiya Primer?

Cheers to all and this Wonderful Forum...Have a Question...I would like to know how you all would compare Dupli Color "Auto Spray" Primer *** Sandable*** to the Tamiya Primer...I myself am a big fan of Tamiya Paints and Primer..but as we all know the Tamiya Primer is just like a Good Woman...Both are hard to fine....

I have been delayed for sometime now because of the lack of finding Tamiya Primer....I have heard that this Dupli-Color Primer works just as well as the Tamiya...

So my Questions are:

Dupli-Color Primer as Good has Tamiya ?

Any adverse effects on paint with Dupli-Color?

Yes i would use the Dupli-Color Primer and some Scrap Model Kits to test for my self...However i have gone thru all the junk pile practicing with my Air Brush.....I now at this time have no more Model Cars to test products on..

So what do you say Guys and all can i be safe and expect the same stellar results using the Dupli-Color Primer.. Would like to say that i suppose all stryene plastic is the same in most aspect...but yet some are softer than others..So if it helps i would be using the primer on Tamiya Model Kits....Thanks For You Support....Cheers to All

I don't really feel that the gray primer is all that, but the fine white...now I can get by with other gray primers,but the fine white just lays down so nice and has kind of a sheen and it sure does make light colors and metallics POP! I've never liked Dupi-color primer /filler type,But the primer sealer is okay as a last coat before colors. My goto primer is Plast-kote 466 primer and spot filler as I recently got several cans at $3.00 ea locally. PLEASE TAMIYA PUT YOUR SYNTHETIC LACQUER IN BOTTLES FOR US WITH AIRBRUSHES!!!

I haven't tried any other Duplicolor primer, but I agree with Mike that the "White sandable primer" is very nice. It works fine with both Tamiya and Testors lacquers.

If you can find the the bottle of Tamiya primer thin that and shoot that through your airbrush. I found it at my local hobby shop' You get the same results as you would out of the can. Tamiya primer is the best most versatile stuff I have used.

I gave up on Tamiya primers...lack of availability, and cost. I switched to duplacolor years ago, and if a white base is needed I shoot HOK BC26 white over the primer...love it!!

It comes in quarts and is very economical. It lays down smoothly when properly thinned.

Tamiya or Mr Color laquer thinner...different from regular lacquer thinner. Tamiyas own is "out of stock" now...good luck
