Well, that is called freedom of expression... or something like that. I don't really like it but i try to understand the thinking that happened when they ended up with the cars being like that...

I see it like this, U like BIG rims... Ok, they don't fit your car....Ok, So what do you do? Stick with the ones that fit and watch everyone showing up with the same choice you made... Or you do whatever you need to do so you can have it your way... I guess I take Option #2... They have a BIG turning radius, yep, they Handle Like a Tractor, yep... But if that is what it takes to be different... Then the need justifies the way... or something like that... It's the same for Lowriders, Rat Rods, Hot Rods, Customs, Street Rods, Lifted Trucks, Rock Crawlers, Hella Flush Japanese cars... and the list goes on and on... They all have the right to exist because not everybody is the same... and so are the cars... Just my 2cents... B)

Yeah, DONKs are ridiculous. and probably unsafe...

but on the other hand, how many ridiculous fads have come and gone in the automotive world?

Gassers (even if they are "cool") are ridiculous and pretty unsafe (and if they are safe, why do you think pro racers sit 5 inches off the ground?).

How many jacked up tri-fives had ball-joint spacers, and straight axles for that matter? They all handle like elephants on stilts.

A lot of people think rat-rods are pretty goofy too(note my avatar pic)-and unsafe. I agree with Cranky-if it gets kids away from x-box(or worse), let em' build what they perceive as cool. How many "adults" hated all that crazy Roth stuff in the sixties? If "adults" stopped trying to push their tastes and perceptions of cool on youths of today, you might get a few more builders to keep the hobby going.

It may be a "ridiculous" fad, but the "dirty south" look is progressing into something new, the rims ain't getting smaller (deal with it-it's here just like fuel injection and on-board computers) and the cars are coming back down to mother earth. Crazy, sensory overload stuff is what gets kids' attention, and I don't see anything wrong with that. It's what's happened throughout history-rock and roll, muscle cars, whatever-there are always detractors to every fad, automotive or not. Stop trying to shove your opinions down every kid with baggy pants throat, and gain some insight to what's happening now, like it or not. You might be able to subtly influence them. Otherwise you come off like that crazy southern baptist guy from "Footloose" who outlawed dancing in his town. And to boot, you're probably driving off the only people that might keep the hobby alive...

Just a little food for thought.

Almost 100% with you Bro... :)

You are right my friend, can't deny the fact that it's certainly something different from the norm, I have seen quite a number of these around my way and I can't say I like them but hey, if that's your thing what can I say?

And there it is, a few voices of reason. I like my stuff low. Someone else likes their stuff high. Some like pork, some like fish. From what I can see, nobody ridiculed this young man into lowering it, he made his own decision. "Do yo' thang!"

Oh, and remember,"If art isn't pissing somebody off, it's not doing anything"-Andy Warhol (loosely interpreted)

Looks good Mookie, keep it up!
