Rob Z Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Hey Doc!!! This is really looking great... I had to go to my stash and remind myself of just how simplistic this kit really is... It's almost unbelievable, I think theres more parts to the trailer than the car... LOL Going to keep tuned in, I am really diggin' it... Thank also for the masking tip too...
GOTH KUSTOMS Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Dang man, you walked that puppy into the sun light and she lit right up with sparkle, no problem seeing that, great job on the paint, and the interior, I'm getting this kit myself, here in a few days, thanx for sharing your build, it has give'n me ideas, great work.....
nybuilder Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I really love the paint. I am going to try using a silver metallic base with a candy apple green and try some graphics like you did. Hopefully it will come out half as nice as yours.

Yes, a very simple kit but I find that these early AMT/ERTL kits with the molded in chassis have always driven me crazy. I always end up building the cars box stock, curbside more likely. Thanks for the kind words.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 14, 2011 Author Posted September 14, 2011 Michael and Tim, thanks for the support . . . I hope you guys get a chance to build this kit. It's simple, but it really is beautiful . . . big cars like this one make a great canvas for paint.

I love these 70's cars - they are so big! But my built is in comparison to yours a very small light. Not so much "blingbling" only with the paintjob! Yours looking great Virgil!
Tony T Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Man, they could have seen that sparkle from space, Doc!! Nice job on that!! I built one of these back in the day and bought one of the reissues (red on the box-I want to get the blue and white one for the decals) just because the trailer is great...who doesn't love a nice trailer? I know the kit is simplistic and has metal axles...it's nostalgia, baby!! The chassis is simplistic, the interior is shallow, but the body is about spot on for a 76 Caprice! Thanks for sharing...can't wait to see it all together in the glamour shots!
