ramonesblues Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I just read that Roths Tweety Pie just sold for $325,000.Imagine owning one of the icons of hot rodding.
jbwelda Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 didnt roth buy that built and just sparkle it up a bit? i talked to roth about the surfite at a car show close to his passing. it was being displayed at the same show. he said he hadnt seen it since he sold it to a guy 20 years or so earlier and he was surprised it was still together and there at the show. evidently the guy drove it to the beach every day and roth was proud to know someone actually used it for its intended purpose: hauling a surfboard to the beach.
ramonesblues Posted April 26, 2007 Author Posted April 26, 2007 You're right, Bill. Roth bought it, gave it a shave and a haircut and made it famous. Such is the power of celebrity. It also helps to have the eye of an artist.
