The race in this clip was the 1963 Bakersfield Fuel and Gas Nationals. I know because I was there. Art Malone won top fuel, he is the yellow car with the newspaper mailbox for an injector scoop. The March Meet did not have stock cars except Factory Experimental and had over 80 top fuel dragsters and 400 cars - a lot considering no stockers.

Yeah, I didn't get to that part of the post. Still having a time learning how to use all this "new" stuff on the board. Just when I thought I had mastered it all. I actually had two brothers in-law that attended. They were both quite into drag racing at the time. They both knew and helped out Lyle Fisher and Red Greth on their speed sport roadster.170756741_5w7qk-L.jpg
