I just have a general question, this may apply a bit more for the guys north of the border, but I am looking to get a hold of a few more of the Italeri truck kits but first off I am having a difficult time finding a place locally, second the price of these kits seem to be out of this world! This definatly seems to be a pricey hobby! haha

None the less if anyone knows of somewhere locally (Toronto,Durham, GTA) that would have these kits availabe and for a reasonable price, or even online for that fact it would be greatly appreciated.

Thx

James,

Sit down and think seriously what kits you want and how many. Then try directly to the distributor. The secret to do this is to keep in mind that Italeri kits are shipped in boxes of 8 pieces. So if you order 8 kits of the same part code you may have a better price. Note also that a long time relationship between you and the distributor also may count for lower prices.

That is what I do. Last time I ordered directly from the distributor 40 kits, so the price was collapsed in comparison with a kit price from a local hobbie shop. For example the italeri kit 3857 Peterbilt long hauler here in Greece in a LHS costs about 44-48€ but as i wrote, 40 kits directly from the distributor dropted the price per kit down to 32.50€. It is at least 10€ cheaper and that price diference can overcover the shipping/dellivery costs from distributor to you. Excuse me for typing prices in euros but i don't think that it is fair to exchange prices in USD since every day the exchange price between Euro & USD is up & down.

James, for smaller orders, you might want to try Udisco in Montreal. They are a big distributor with a large warehouse. Living near Montreal, I have been there quite a number of times and they have most current Moebius, Round 2/AMT/Ertl and Italeri kits.

Give them a try at www.udisco.com. Their prices are not bad either.

Well first off thank you so much for the responses. Kostas, I definatly liek your idea of going right to the supplier, but I think at this time it may not be in the budget to buy bulk as well as I only know of one supplier in this area and the few times I have called them they were not very "friendly" to say the least, but by all means if I was looking on jumping right in that would be my first option. Also for that would you have to be some sort of registered business due to the fact of them giving them to you at wholesale for "re-sale) purposes?

Z06bob, I will check out that website and see from there cuz I definatly want to get a few more but nothing crazy, the main thing getting everything ready to make a 379X that was my ultimate dream truck and making one of those would be absolutly amazing! So if anyone has any ideas on what kit to use and where to get the cab and hood etc. it would be awesome

Thx

I am not sure if I understand that correct, maybe it is my fault not to mention this before. No it is not necessary to be any kind of registered business.

In my case, the Greek distributor has also a HS so he can sell both to retailers and end customers. So I am taking this advantage.

About the 379X i would suggest you to start with Italeri 378 long hauler kit #3857 for the basics and then from Eric (Porky) you can purchase the 379X hood, correct tool boxes and many other goody's you may want to make a nice model of your dreams truck.

I'll talk to the local distributer next week and see what he has to say, worse case scenario he just says no right?

But definatly for now I will pick up the 378 pete to get the project started, and also check out porky's website and shop awa on there!

The only differance i I wanna keep the hood fenders stock, in this pic it looks like they havewent for the "outlaw" style which is not what I am looking for, ut other than that this is it!
