surfjunke Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 This started out as an old 1/43rd Mikeansue white metal kit I received from one of my clients a few years ago. It was built & painted. Mikeansue kits were from England & were made back in the late 70's & early 80's. After taking the Porsche apart & sanding the paint smooth, the work began by making a new interior from Evergreen plastic. Made a full roll cage, resin seats with 5 point harnesses, Tameo etched pedals, Renaissance steering wheel & a new dash with recessed gauges. Also made wheel wells to stop the see though look. The body got the smoothing treatment. Rescribed all panel lines. Made new bumpers with steel pins for locating/gluing. The headlights were drilled out & modified to accept MV lenses. The new covers were vac formed. The mirrors were made from plastic & brass rod. Wipers are from the Tameo etched range. The rear grills came from the parts box. I was able to use the original vac glass after it was cut up as individual pieces. The wheels are an old set from Robustelli. Paint is from the old Poly Scale metalizer acrylic range, Anodized aluminum. Could mix this color with silver & blue.
peter31a Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Wow! That's a lot of work you've done to that little puppy. It turned out great! Love the wheels and colour turned out great. Thanks for sharing.
bigphoto Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Very cool the model looks similar to the Gemund coupe!
Modelmartin Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Hard to believe that was a MIKANSUE! At the time of manufacture they were only meant to be placed next to Dinky and Corgi toys. The 1/43rd biz back in the 70s was not waht it is now!!!!
