Guest Johnny Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 (edited) Funny? I understood him! I contracted a few loads from there in the mid 70's when I was an Owner Operator. But I sure wouldn't have passed you up hill??? On the flat maybe but not on a climb! My 71 International 4070 had a 318 Detroit with a 13 speed Fuller and 4:11's out back Up the Grape Vine I was on the low end of the low side! Now going across Montana at 79,500 gross I could have run 90+ all night long! (but I didn't, well, maybe once )\ All I saw were KW's some were Cab overs! Edited September 23, 2011 by Johnny
cowboysevens Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 yeah , i understood him just fine also. as far as i know monfort ran all kenworths, they but they also had o/o

cappy625 Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 and the left lane became known as the monfort lane.
butchey Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Yes he paid all fines when yu were stoped &had to be in left lane.THO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lapazleo Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 All monfort w900s had dual air cleaners. Some of the k 100 coes had their 8v71t 350s replaced by cummins kt 450s but none had 12v71s.When Monfort bought Freightliner coes in 1977 they had cummins formula 350s and 9 speeds the end of the Monfort legend they also bought White road commander 2s with the same set up as the Freightliners. They had some 35 or so owner operators who's trucks were painted in company colors one of them may have had a 12v71 one for sure had a 3408 cat. As with most legends there is a lot of exagiration. Either way any of their trucks would make a neat project. Amts coe and w900 are close matches the ntc 350 and 8v71t would be easy as would the twin stick spicer and Allison auto and Italeris 48 ft reefer could be cut down to 39 and half feet and look like a Timpte reefer decals would be the worst part.
