Mystery (to me) Shelby Cobra Engine

Today I inventoried a Sunbeam Alpine Kit I have and discovered it included most of an extra Engine! Cobra marked Valve Covers, Shelby marked Hicap Oilpan and B&M marked tranny.

Anyone know which kit this can from?

I remember A M T making such a kit back in the 1970's or so . By that time , I was too busy manufacturing Custom Van parts . I didn't go back to models until about 1986 or so .............. Ed Shaver

Actually several of the Lil' John Buttera kits had them.

The Sunbeam kit was AMT.Why would it have an engine from a Revell kit?

Looks like someone was gonna give that little car some teeth.... that's definately a revell engine I have parts of it layin around from my 27 touring kit

I knew someone(s) here would know where it came from. I've had the Kit for a while, got it used and wanted to make sure all the parts were here. So I was more than a bit suprised to find not only an extra engine but one with an Auto Tranny.

I'm sure Rick nailed it about the engine upgrade. Luckily I have an R&D Unique Intake with Webers for a S/B Ford laying around, so the missing intake isn't a problem.

That's what i was getting at.The Sunbeam with a small block Ford engine as an option in the kit was the Tiger. Is the engine the same color plastic?

Greg, mine's the AMT Matchbox kit # 2003. What was funny though is it came with the instructions for both the 2003 kit and the kit you posted!

The Kit is cast in a Lemon Yellow and the extra engine is sort of a Butterscotch.
