Evil Appetite Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 (edited) PS is way too indepth of a software for anyone to teach here. it's professional level software that even alot of professionals dont know 100% Search google and unless things have changed since I used photoshop back in the v7 days..there are a billion and 1 sites that teach you how to do whatever you want http://psd.tutsplus.com/ is just one of a few dozen that comes to mind Edited October 20, 2011 by Evil Appetite
John Pol Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 Hi Mike: All I want to learn to do is how to remove decals from a drag car and sharpen it up so its clear thats all.If you can help that would be great. John Pol
Evil Appetite Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Decals from a magazine picture? or that have already been put on a drag kit..
scalenut Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 (edited) .if your scanning a decal sheet to size photoshop is ok If the image has to be resized in any way I would highly recommend a vector based drawing program. so you can size the images to the model without them going blurry/jagged. Photoshop aint all that..it's raster.plus they all have the same learning curve anyway all the decal guys(,kieth marks, mike's, myself and many others that draw a lot) use corel or illustrator (inkscape is open source--free) photoshop doesn't cut it for that type of images...different beast. Evil Appetite Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 that's right...raster based programs are no good for resizing...they basically dont know how to re-size pixels correctly thats why you'll get pixelated blocky images. \vector based programs like illustrator or Corel draw use math when resizing , so you can scan or create your own..and re size them as big as you want with no pixelation. If you're scanning an image from a magazine..that's alittle/very tricky. you'll get whats called cross hatching. \the fibers in the paper will show up making the image useless. There are ways to reduce the effect such as adding a dark sheet of paper behind the page to be scanned. Then use the tools in PS to clean up the remaining crosshatching. In my experience though, you'll never be happy with the end result what is this decal you want replicated?
John Pol Posted October 21, 2011 Author Posted October 21, 2011 http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/dragnut26/Mopars/0DemonPSJohnPetrie-vi.jpg This is the one I`m trying to do Andy I downloaded inkscape see how it works out for me. If you guys can help out showing how to do it that would be great. I don`t plan to make money doing this I just want to do certain decals thats all. John Pol
Evil Appetite Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 I dont see any way to scan that in and print it out. off of the top of my head you'd probably have to mask off the body and shoot the red then do the same for the blue, you could then print this out and apply it as a decal
John Pol Posted October 21, 2011 Author Posted October 21, 2011 How did you do that? the photo I mean. John Pol
scalenut Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 John type "dodge demon decal" into google images... several sizes come up good image find Evil .... It has enough resolution I can shrink it down pretty small without going blurry.
John Pol Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 Hi there I downloaded inkscape can I take the decals off the side of the car with this package? John Pol
MikeMc Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 PS will work.....with lots more work than is needed. google your decals, copy and paste into MS Word. You can adjust sizing without any loss of resolution. Most of the license plates are done this way. Or get CS4 or CS5 for dummies....it will show you the PS way
