Ray Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 What are the steps you fellas take to pull off a convincing headliner?
mr moto Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Most of the time I just smooth and paint the inside of the roof. Usually flat white so it reflects the most light onto the interior. To bring the detail up a little more, I'll put in a few ribs made from small Evergreen half round stock and also install sunvisors and maybe a dome light if desired. For a custom look the ribs could be foiled after painting. Other ideas (that I haven't done yet) might be to add grab handles or use some uphostelry pattern decals from Scalemotorsport.com to add a simulated texture.
Mike Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Oddly enough, my friend used Charmin toilet paper on one and it looked great.
gearjammer Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Hi Ray, I am new to the forum, my name is Ron, and this will be my first post. I just ran across this last week and have not had a chance to see how well it works. Sounds good though I have found a great way to make headliners, hood insulation, or blower blankets. First, obtain a plain, white, non-quilted paper towel (not too thick!). Lay this on or over the part you want covered, then liberally wet it with a mix of water (30%) and white glue (70%). Let this dry for a full day, gently remove from the part, trim to size, paint with a flat paint, and then reattach to the model!!
Jairus Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 gearjammer, Welcome to MCM forums! Please take a moment and read the forum rules... Thanks!
