revshag Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Does anyone use a bilge blower to vent their spray booth? I was doing some research as I need to reconsider the exhaust fan for my spray booth. Bilge blowers are used for removing fumes from the bilge of a boat. They have "spark proof" motors, high cfm's and are fairly inexpensive. They are typically DC, but that can be corrected with a power inverter. I was wondering if anyone has any experience using one of these and if there is any reason to not use them. Thanks, Chris
LDO Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 No experience with them. I read an article in an IPMS Journal about making a booth with a squirrel-cage fan from a furnace. You might be able to get a used one of those for free from an HVAC shop. If you lived closer, I'd give you one for free. I picked up a pair of them at work.

The ones I have found from furnaces and AC air handlers are generally very large and wired for 220VAC. I'd like more info on the ones you got. Edited October 26, 2011 by Jantrix
