surfjunke Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Just finished this very old (late 1970's kit) from Mikeansue Models of England. It is a white metal kit. All of the panel lines needed to be rescribed & deepened. The paint is mixed from Tamiya acrylics & cleared with Dupont Chroma Clear. The red graphics were cut from red decal film, there were no decals in the kit.
SuperStockAndy Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Here's something you don't see everyday, nice!
Dominik Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 (edited) Never heard about a Austin Healy Record Car...what kind of cars were build...incredible Thanks for sharing! Edited November 1, 2011 by Dominik
Modelmartin Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Very cool build. You did a wonderful job. Mikansue kits were very rudimentary. They were meant to be thrown together and fill in gaps in Dinky Toy collections. Theyw ere originally produced in the 1970s before high detail 1/43rd kits were even conceived of.
Chuck Most Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Never heard of this particular Austin Healy before. Swoopy looking, and the colors look great on it.
randx0 Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I wish I was going to say what Mr. Martin said but I was really going to say what Mr. Most said. very nice looking car.
surfjunke Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 Thank you for all your comments. The kit is 1/43rd scale. The car set a number of speed records in the U.S. in 1954 including a class D record @ Bonneville. It continued to set records in 1955 & 1956. A company in Australia found some original parts & built an exact copy of the streamliner & took it to Bonneville in 2009 & set another class record.
