57peppershaker Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Any you guys built the Revell 51 Ford Anglia ? Got any pics ? I picked up a body in a bunch of kits I bought. I'm planning on building it as a more up to date looking Anglia, without the wheels sticking out the arches. Widen the rear arches & use different axle / suspension ect. Anybody know what narrow axle / front suspension would be a good start ? I've seen the Perry Resin pro street chassis, so thinking of that. Also dropping another engine in, Ford 5.0 from Fox Mustang, or maybe a V6. Many Anglia's or Pop's run V6's here in the UK. Pics / advice would be welcome & maybe make things easier.
Flatearthman Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 I think you posted in the wrong section

surfjunke Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Hi Steve, There are all kinds of cool things that can be done with the Anglia. I have a Pro Street one in the works right now. The rear tubs & rear end came from one of Revell's Pro Street kits from the late 1980's (I used the Pontiac). They were the Beretta, Corvette & the Pontiac J-2000. I see the kits on EBay for pretty reasonable prices. They are narrow enough that they fit inside the Anglia kits, no problem. Hope this helps & good luck on your project. Look forward to seeing it.
57peppershaker Posted November 11, 2011 Author Posted November 11, 2011 I think you posted in the wrong section Maybe, if so please can the mods move it., but I want to see cars that are finished. I have some idea's, but am open to suggestions following finished builds. Heard a lot of good & bad about this old kit. Junkman, I've got an XR4i that may give up its running gear (couldnt find an Essex V6) if I cant squeeze a 302 in there.
57peppershaker Posted November 11, 2011 Author Posted November 11, 2011 Thanks Scott, thats the kinda info I'm looking for Whats under the front ?
DumpyDan Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Hear is one I did a few years back, it turned out much better then I thought.
surfjunke Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Steve, The front suspension was used from the same Pontiac kit. The lower a-arms are molded to the chassis, the upright with the shock is a separate piece & the top mount was on the upper engine bay frame. These parts were cut up & modified to fit the Anglia chassis. I also drill & pin the joints using brass wire or piano wire for strength & easy location gluing after paint. Hope this helps.
Chuck Most Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I've only ever built one- the drag sedan, but it was done box stock mostly. I do have the Thames panel van version I plan to make a little bit wilder, but that project might not be started until a long, long time from now.
57peppershaker Posted November 14, 2011 Author Posted November 14, 2011 Thanks for the info Scott. Start hunting through my parts box's. Dan, that is spot on ! Got more info please ?
57peppershaker Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 Other than the resin chassis, are there any other resin parts for this kit ? Replacement hood ? In the UK, they were Ford Populars, commonly known as Pops but they had a different front grill. Anybody got a pic of the Perrys Resin body ? Its not on the site & got no reply from the email I sent.
Terror Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Nice work guys .I'm doing one now,I see alot of us glued that front end on..
