DirtModeler Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 I've been having issues running Model Master Fluoro Orange through my airbrush... Does anyone have any tips as far as what to thin it with? I didn't have much luck with Lacquer Thinner (which thins most model master paints just fine for airbrushing).
Scale-Master Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 I use regular lacquer thinner to thin it, but it does take a bit more effort/action to get it to mix thoroughly. I also thin it a bit more than the standard enamels to eliminate the cob webbing that it tends to do when sprayed too thick or at too high of air pressure. Don't try to get full coverage/density in one coat. It helps to apply it in a couple/few light coats with 15-20 minutes between them.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 I believe that's what Donn Yost says about it. It's better to spray light coats . . . I am about to start trying it again after almost 35 years of not working with enamels.
LoneWolf15 Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 I use the orange and the red as a base coat quite often . I cut it at a 2 to 1 paint to laquer thinner ratio, be sure the thinner is the hardware store variety . Light mist coats from about 4 in. away until you have a complete overall smooth finish. This dries really quick !
