I can't remember what someone had recommended for gluing aftermarket tires back together again after make them thinner, by slicing down the middle.

Anyone have a glue they use that is perfect for this?

I want it to preferably melt the tire halves together, so the center seam will disappear.

Also, if there is a glue that I could use to reform the rounded outer sidewall when I really cut a tire down in size, say for a super-skinny front tire. I want the inner sidewall to have the rounded shape, instead of the straight cut you get from slicing it.

Also working with friend on making a tire-slicing tool that will hopefully make this job easier, and more precise.

Gregg, I used cyano-acrylate to cement the rear tires I cut apart, and reassembled, (in this case widened, but the same procedure can be used for narrowing them). It is stable, sandable and paintable, if needed. I haven't painted these... yet...

But I will to hide the minor line where the seam is, you can see it on slick laying flat.

i've been trying to come up with a method of safely cutting a vinyl tire while keeping the cut line straight, but haven't been able to get any better than being real darn careful and using a brand new single edge razor or no11 blade. i did find that you can use 120grit on a flat surface to dress the cut side flat.... doing that also helps hide the seam, but i usually use a slow setting ca gel glue so i can get the tire tread lined up before it "locks". i widen AMT Firestone Supremes for '60's fullsize cars, and the skinny Firestone ribbed tires for trucks. my "trick", if it qualifies as such, is to keep a hold on the blade as close to the cutting edge as possible just in case i slip, so even IF i cut myself it's only a slight one. and go slllooowwwlllyyy.... it's not a race!

I have probably widened 40 sets of tires by cutting with a sharp razor blade; my glue of choice is superglue; no accelerant. I also bevel (or 'V' my 'inside' cuts on the inner surface of the tire towards the rim, then run a bead of superglue around the inside of the tire for strength. This makes an EXTREMELY strong bond, I haven't had one come apart yet....'Z'
