Any info on how to spray whitewalls on to un-named tyres ?

I'm sure I saw somewhere about tapeing them to the back of a curcular artist stencil ?

Whats the best paint to use ? I dont have an airbrush, just rely on acrylic rattle spray cans.

I am sure there are better ways, but here is what I did n a 1/16 scale 57 Bird kit. I used press and seal saran wrap as a masking. I then bought a can of aerosol vinyl dye at autzone and sprayed on the whote walls. Any bleed under te wrap I used and x-acto and just cut a line around what I wanted and scraped off what I did not wnat. Worked well and I could stil see the molded in Firestone detals on the old AMT kit tires.

I don't spray white walls. I use sticky back printer paper and a circle cutter I made. That way I can make whatever width I need.

There was a thread on this - basically use a circle template, cut the size circle you need, attach to tire, spray white. The trick is getting the circle perfectly lined up on your tire.

You can use plastic templates, but I kept gouging the sides with my cumbersome hands and sharp knives, so I found this aluminum one online.

When I test fitted the tyres into the stencil, I found the 'ridge' in the sidewall slotted into the stencil hole. I'll find some old tyres, mask the tread & tape them to the stencil & try it.

I assume normal acrylic spray paint will still to the tyres if I wash & degrease ?

i've found that PlastiCoat white sandable primer actually dries on rubber and ya don't need that much...
