Paul C. Anagnostopoulos
I have a whacky project in mind for which I need a 1/32 scale engine. Can anyone recommend kits that have reasonably good engines? It needs to be an engine on the smaller side so it will fit. ~~ Paul
guysmilie
At the moment, the only one I can come up with is the Lindberg ZR-1, I'm sure there are others but well I am going thru a bout of C.R.S.
DaveInTheHat
Some of the old Aurora kits from the '60's had some decent engines. A few Pyro kits had engines, but not many. Sometimes you can get them on Ebay for under $10. There's an Aurora 'T' bucket that has a pretty nice nail head. There are some 1/32 scale stock cars that came out a couple years ago that have engines in them too.
bob paeth
Paul, Pick up one of the 1/32 Ford convertibles by Revell. These are well detailed and look good as well. bob
Modelmartin
What kind of engine, Paul? There are a zillion (well, maybe dozens!) of them. All of the Matchbox kits had good engines from Porsche 917, 935 to Rolls Phantom! Monogram did some funny cars about 15 years ago with good top fuel motors. The already mentioned Revell Ford and Cadillac kits have stock V8s. The old Pyro Brass series have antique inline 6 and 4 inline engines. The hot rod kits from Aurora, Pyro, and lindberg have low levels of detail but can be brought to life.
Paul C. Anagnostopoulos
Thanks for the info, guys. I know nothing about 1/32 scale kits. Andy, what's a good source for the Matchbox kits? ~~ Paul
Modelmartin
Ebay! There are a bunch listed right now including 917s, Packard, MGTC, Aston Ulster, Jag SS-100, etc. The newish Revell 1/32 Porsche 935 Jagermeister kit is originally a Matchbox kit. The AMT 1/32 917/10s are also Matchbox. Good luck.
