Guest Sickfish Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Well g'day guys! It's been quite a few months since I've been here & had anything to post. There's something about ###### winter weather... It has alway's had the ability to zap my motivation for bench-time! ? Life, too, tend's to get in the way also & it seem's to do it ever year ? But thankfully I know once the weather pick's up so do's my motivation ? ... It also helped that I've become really good " text/email" friend's with a really great guy in Cesar Bossolani, whom some of you may know is STILL building his AWESOME Magnum! He has been such an inspiration to me & all 3 of these builds ? Without his enthusiasm I don't know if I'd be making the effort I have been making.... So first & foremost... Obrigado to my best Brazilian buddy, The Boss! ?? So onto the builds... The first is an 09 Challenger I started before winter kicked in & zapped my motivation to finish it. I started a wip thread on it but I couldn't be stuffed going back about 100 pages to find it so i'm just throwing it in here... It's the Revell kit & I've used most of the PE detail pack, by Geronimo Works, for the added realism. I also got some real 1:1, new for last year Chally colours, Envy green & Furious Fucshia, from a local auto-paint supply store. I ended up going with the Envy green. Most of the build is complete, just really have to put it all together ?? ... The wheels are the stock rims, sanded off the outer rim, fit them into bigger Aoshima 20in rims & kept the outer chrome lip. I think it suit's the Chally's wheel-well's much better than the undersized kit supplied combination... Here's some pics... I'll post the SLS next & then the Magnum... Cheers, Cliffo ??
Ryan S. Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Challenger is looking great Cliff. The green suits it very well. Those rims are awesome too. They look way better than the stock rims! Can't wait to see your other 2 builds.
Guest Sickfish Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Yeh thanks Ryan cheers mate! Just back from killin' myself @ the gym Lol! So here's the Merc SLS & the idea/inspiration behind it... This is the 1:1, customized by a Tuning company called Wheels & More... Now I know there's a few guys out there that dread/loathe seeing these big European Sports Coupes customized/vandalized, whichever they'd like to refer to it as but for me this customized version is absolutely stunning! It's so Demonically brash! In my opinion this new SLS HAS to be 1 of the best, if not thee BEST retro-restyled sports car to date! Anyhow... I HAD to build it as close as I could, since I'd already bought the kit ( Revell Europe ) Stay tuned.... For the scale version...
Guest Sickfish Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 (edited) Here's where I'm at with it... All parts are pretty much painted, red is Auto Dupli-colour Marenello Red ( yes, Ferrari I know ) Also I've polished out the body/it's parts with a new technique... My good Brazilian mate Cesar sent me some new, only avail' in Brazil, polishing bits ( pure cotton ) that can be used in a low-revving hobby drill. I have to say the results are awesome! They're as good as, if not better than the old' hand rubbing. Not only that but the results are easier to achieve & come sooner, between 2-3 passes with the polishing bit Vs 6-8 with the old hand rubbing! The wheels are Aoshima 20s ( 2-piece ) More.... Next post... Edited November 21, 2011 by Sickfish
Guest Sickfish Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I'll be clear-coating it then adding a black chrome stripe from front to back. Also forgot to mention I filled in the front 1/4 & rear 1/4 panel lines & the rear speed-brake wing, to achieve a sleeker & smoother overall look... Cheers & thanks all
Guest Sickfish Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 So onto the Magnum... I'm naming it the Big Boss Bass Magnum in honor of my mate Cesar, The Brazilian Boss, after seeing his brilliant Magnum ( still waiting for him to get off his bottom & finish it ;-) ) & for all the help, inspiration & motivation he's been giving me to build this Magnum. It all came about after I shelved my, previous wip Magnum, that I donated it's windows to Cesar, as he had accidentally broken his & I had stuffed the paint job up! I recently bought another kit, as it was going cheap for $20. While in my new motivated mood & after consulting the Boss, I had 2 options... Go with 1 of 2 what-if's themes... Furious Fuchsia ( had the Magnum still being produced today ) or interpret Dodge's new Prototype ACR Dodge Challenger, recently shown at SEMA... ? The Boss agreed & the ACR version I chose to build! Along with this colour scheme, I had a lot of after-market goodies to pimp out the interior. All resin products from ThePartsBox.com.au. So it's getting front seat head-rest DVD players, roof mounted monitor, amps, speakers & subwoofers galore! Built the custom Boom-Bass-box out of Styrene/tube etc.... Had to cut out and drop the rear boot space to allow the whole set-up to fit snuggly inside & give the tailgate clearance to close... Even though I'll probably display it in the open position...? The tube run's through the box & into the middle of the rear seats... For massive bass! Wheels... Well they're 1-off custom Foose Style Nitrous 20s, with an aluminium lip.... Can't say who gave them to me... It has to remain a secret ;-);-);-) but for a first-off casting... They're great! I'll be using huge resin disc-brakes, also from the parts box. Here's where I'm at with it....
Guest Sickfish Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 More.... Cheers & stay tuned for more, Cliffo!
Tonioseven Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 My kind of builds right here!! I love them!!

Guest Sickfish Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 G'day guys... Just a quick update... Managed to get all the windows masked, painted & polished today... More to come... Cheers Cliffo.
Ryan S. Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Magnum and the Merc are going to be sweet too. How do you polish your glass? It's beautiful.
Guest Sickfish Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Thanks Ryan! I use Meguiars Mirror Glaze clear plastic cleaner followed by the clear plastic polish.... All by hand... Doe's a really good job! PS: you don't like the challenger ? Lol!
Ryan S. Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Thanks for the info. I've got the Novus polishes, but haven't tried them on clear plastic. I'll have to see if it works as well as Meguires and I'll keep an eye out for those too. I love the Challenger! I had just commented on it already, but not the other two . You've got 3 really nice projects going my friend!
Guest Sickfish Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Thanks Ryan... Sorry about the slight oversight on the Chally, was just being a lark! Lol! Keep up the great work on the Chally x Magnum bro! Cheers Cliffo :-)
Cesar Bossolani Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Cliffo I'm speechless for many reasons specially for great quality of your 3 WIP at same time!! You are going for 3 great one-off rides showing to the guys that isn't hard to do! @ Chally: We have a deal bro!!! Don't forget... Before Xmas I'll show off my Magnum done and you do need the same with your Challenger!! @ Benz: Now I can see better how great you did in polishing job instead in the Iphone... IMO if you apply some clear it will must be super and perfect shine as "show car"! @ ACR Magnum: Could you guys check modification Cliffo's had did in trunk? Now body and trunk are leveled and filled to don't use wing spoiler... That's the biggest trouble which came from stock Revell's Magnum. 20" Nitrous looks awesome bro... great in black to fit with ACR theme!! @ Windows: Great polishing job!! I want to try that products also!! Did you sand before polishing? How order did you used? #10 then #17? Don't thanks me mate! You did all alone... we just having talking about you ideas and techs... it's your merit, you did!!! God bless Apple and Iphone... they connect in seconds a brazilian guy in Brazil and a aussie guy in Australia!! Keep it going bro! I want to see more!! Cheers! Cesar
Guest Sickfish Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 (edited) Cesar! The Boss! Lol! Bro you give me too much credit! All inspiration for these builds come from you bro! Your workmanship, skill & attention to the details make me & many others want to do better! After seeing, some years ago now, your awesome 'Cuda I alway's try to do better with every build since! Now your magnum....! Stunning! The only reason I'm making this ACR Magnum is because I wanted to build it as good as your's! Guys don't let Cesar fool you, I've never seen him make a bad build... None of his builds are understated... None! Bro I didn't sand windows, just used #17 ( cleaner) first then #10 Polisher! Is great stuff.... But this stuff ONLY for clear parts... Not for painted parts... Trust me ;-) Tonight I fixed wheels & windows to Chally... I'm hoping to finish it by end of week.... So you better get your Magnum completed by end of year... I want everyone to see how beautiful it is! :-) Cheers guys & Boss! Cliffo :-) I agree... These new " smart phones" are so good! iPhone/Apple is fantastic.... I use it for everything, including all my posting here! I don't even have a laptop anymore! Edited November 22, 2011 by Sickfish
LAone Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 wow, some awesome looking builds coming up from you. im tuned in bro.

Cesar Those Mequiar polishes should be available at any good motorcycle shop, & most auto body supply houses, they are what the bikers & racers use to clean & polish the face shields on their helmets, that is why they do such a good job as they are designed to optical standards (no they don't work on plastic eyeglasses, don't ask how I know, it's a sore subject with my wife).
Guest Sickfish Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Thanks Luis! Del... Yeh I kind've know all that & mentioned these polishes are for clear glass ONLY. Pretty sure everyone know's where car polishes are avail' from too.... Ok guys.... Challengers windows installed & wheels for both the Challenger & Merc' all done. The outer lips of the Merc wheels were clear coated yesterday. I alway's like to use, with a brush, some tyre black on the tyres... Give's them a nice new tyre look... More to come... Chally should be ready to put together tomorrow when/if I get the chance.. Cheers Cliffo :-)
