skulls Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 (edited) Ooops, haha, its actually looks like it would be straight forward to do the walls and ceiling. I actually have some sign inserts here at my work that are made from very thin and flexable plastic and kinda have a grainy finish on the backside, so something like that would work amazing, so that could be a suggestion to someone if they have a sign making place around and ask to see there material. Now how in the world would you do a detailed floor like that in a reefer unit?? That is now the challenge, because I already have a about a dozen or so ideas brainstorming in my head on all the differant company set ups and colour schemes...AHH! haha, is it out yet, is it out yet, is it out yet? haha Edited December 13, 2011 by skulls
scale trucker Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 can we please have the main shell stainless plated??just asking if not i still want 20
skulls Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 can we please have the main shell stainless plated??just asking if not i still want 20 Worse case scenario Duplicolor chrome should take care of that, or at least thats what I used on the 48ft reefer and it turned out quite well. Or, how big of sheets are available for bmf? ;-)
Ben Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 can we please have the main shell stainless plated??just asking if not i still want 20 Yes, pleeeeeaaaaasssse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dave Metzner Posted December 16, 2011 Author Posted December 16, 2011 Front and back walls will be plated - pretty much like trailers seen in Great Dane's sales brochures... Dave
chuckyr Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 (edited) That sounds good Dave! I won't go into all the wants as we can take care of custom modifications ourselves. Not to be a grump but are we model builders or kit put togetherers? I don't want a kit that comes like this then everybody would have the same trailer. I'd rather have one in my mind I'm going to build and nobody has one like it. Think outside the box guys. Yes a plated sides trailer would be nice Too many can we haves and not enough thinking about what we can do with a new modern kit. You said a mouthful! Plating with Alcad 2 would give a more accurate finish anyway. Some just live to complain. BTW, nice trailer photo. Edited December 16, 2011 by chuckyr

Ben Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Some just live to complain. I sure hope that wasn't directed at me! I am in no way complaining! I am extremely greatful for this kit and I was merely suggesting that having the whole body in chrome would be nice. I'll be plenty happy with it having a chrome front bulkhead and rear doors. I'll just send the sides out to be chromed if I want the whole thing chromed. No big deal.

Alcald is more accurate than kit plating and there are many other chrome paints that are very good.
Ben Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 I'm with you Ben. How about letting me know who will chrome the trailer's for you,and how much. Thanks Earl Hey Earl, if the side panels are able to be plated (they might be too big), I'm sure it will either be ChromeTech or The Little MotorKar Co. that would do the plating. I won't know until I can give them the size of the panel. I know ChromeTech has plated the ERTL Great Dane side panels but they are shorter than these new panels. We'll know soon.

I would agree that Alclad would be good to use as well if there were a way to seal it and protect it from fingerprints.
clayton Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 bring it on any way you can, I can take it.
Ben Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 it was not directed to you Ben ,it was a more general observation of the ways things go, I just noticed when something is announced it seems guys are not happy, rerelease the AMT models! they do and it's why can;'t they make new ones, make a new model and it's I don't like that style of truck ,or make it a day cab, give us a Cat engine! or how about a modern trailer, announce a modern trailer and it's can it come with 2 hole Budd's, can it come with alum wheels, how about both, spread axle, no regular tandems, air ride , sounds like my kid, can I have two cookies? yes, Three? no . instead of thanks for the rereleases! we've been dying to buy on e-bay and paying outrageous prices. And thank you for the new offerings! I hope there is enough sold to warrant more in the future. By the way the Hendrixson air ride suspension can be converted to a spread axle very easily, just looked at a real one the other day. When it comes to wanting Cat engines in a modern truck they don't even come in modern trucks anymore unless you want to count the Maxxforce which is a collaboration of Navistar and Caterpillar. Just some observations. not meaning to rant, no wait yes I was . Oh I agree, it's not right to look a gift horse in the mouth but in this case, I think Moebius is listening to what modelers want and being that the trailer is not in production yet, I thought that maybe they would like to know what we would like to see as possible options. I'm quite sure that Moebius wants this kit to be as successful as possible and therefor avoid making mistakes like Italeri did. I think Italeri would have sold thousands more of their reefer trailer had they just asked what types of things the builder would like to see in that type of a kit.
Ben Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 agreed,to that point. I guess it's a fine line. Um, you need to use SpellCheck Leo! It's spelled....G e e B e n, y o u r r i g h t ! H o w d i d y o u g e t s o s m a r t ? LOL, LOL, LOL
Ben Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Not only am I super stoked about this trailer coming out, I'm not buying ANY other truck kits just so I'll have plenty of money to buy lots of THIS kit!!!!!!!! Again, THANK YOU MOEBIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ben Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Whoa! What a coincidence! MY birthday is on May 8th!!!!!! I have a great idea! YOU buy me a case of these trailers and I will gladly accept them and giggle like a little girl when i get them!!!!!!!!! Or, better yet, you buy a case of these trailers and send them to me with a card that has ten dollars in it so I can buy some glue and paint!
bandit1 Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 yep my birthday is januarary 7th so i guess you guys can preorder me a case of the trailers eh?
chuckyr Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 and if the Prostar is the same then Moebius won't be getting any of my money this year either. More for me!
chuckyr Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 oh I'm sorry I don't have that spell checker on my computer. http://www.iespell.com/download.php Install it!

scale trucker Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 wine a little more..;,i just want the trailer like yesterday got 10 trucks that need trailers..then i need 10 more for the shelf.
chuckyr Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Be my guest Charles! I'm waiting for a vocational truck and I don't think I'm alone on this either There is no law that says you can't have both. In fact if the sale are good for the Prostar and trailer, No doubt Moebius will release a Transtar and or Workstar, So buying the kit will in effect aid in getting more kits.
chuckyr Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 (edited) I would agree that Alclad would be good to use as well if there were a way to seal it and protect it from fingerprints. There is, it's called paint seel! Edited December 17, 2011 by chuckyr
