jeffs396 Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Has anyone ever reconfigured one to be conventional front-engined, or is it not worth the effort? I know you'd need a trunklid, and probably LOTS of chassis work. Just wondering before I pick up the reissue, if this isn't doable, is a resin transkit the only answer, or was a stock-ish '70 Swinger done by MPC in styrene? I've got fond memories of a '70 Swinger I'd like to duplicate one day Thanks in advance!
george 53 Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 (edited) Mikes Scale Speedshop? carry's a 70 Dart Swinger conversion kit for the 68/69 Dart. It's a VERY nice kit. I have two of them and they fit the kit parts perfectly. Anyone have Mikes website addy? I only see him at shows. Edited November 30, 2011 by george 53
jeffs396 Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 I just traded & received one of these from a member here (thanks Matt!). Played around with the chassis parts from an AMT '71 Duster...seems to fit OK, anyone kitbashed with the Revell '68/69 Dart kit?
jeffs396 Posted March 18, 2012 Author Posted March 18, 2012 Well, I'm going for it! Picked up the '68 Dart two weeks ago at a local show, so here's what's going to happen: 1. Cut free the hood from the L.A. Dart, fit to the Revell '68 body 2. Cut off the front fender "corner extentions" from same 3. Also remove quarter panel "corners" from the '70 4. Remove the same corners from the '68 These corner pieces are separate on the 1:1, so that'll make it easy and accurate! Looks like the hardest part of this conversion will be scratching (or modifying a kit piece that's close) a front bumper, and adding the correct shape/extension to the '68 trunklid.
