Guest Sickfish Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 G'day guys... I'm on a roll after finishing the Challenger! Since most of the work on the SLS is done I grabbed the opportunity to start work on this baby... Another beautiful car... The Aston DBS! It'll be mostly stock, with the exception of a paint colour not available on this model ( although it should've been ) & I've changed the tyres, to some after-market rubber. So far body/bumper painted & gassing out. Wheels done too... I thought the full-chrome needed a slight tone down so I masked them off, with BMF, & sprayed some Testors Black-chrome trim from behind ( see pics ) . I would like your opinions though, on whether to do the window trim with BMF ( stock look) or black it out?? & if I black them out should I black out the chrome wing vents, on side fenders & on hood?? Wheels masked... Result...
Guest Sickfish Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Sorry I forgot to add, colour is Tamiya French Blue, hence the topic title ;-) Here's a pic of a Jag' XKR GT that I'm going for... Close enough to French Blue?? Cheers all, Cliffo :-)
Dr. Cranky Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Cliff, wow, for a minute I thought the color was Bugatti Blue (I just got some) and it looks a bit lighter than that. Love it. Nice work. Keep it going.
Guest Sickfish Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Bugatti Blue...? Now that would've been nice too... But it's def' Tamiya French Blue :-) Out of curiousity, where did you get the Bugatti Blue paint from? Auto-supply? Can?? Special order? Cheers Cliffo, thanks Doc!
surfjunke Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Looks great so far. Like the color. Like the paint treatment on the wheels. I would go with the black window trim to match the black accents you did on the wheels.
Guest Sickfish Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Yeh I'm tipping that way Scott... Cheers & thanks mate! Cliffo :-)
Scale-Master Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I agree about going with the black trim. The chrome would clash a bit with the look you have already started.
Dr. Cranky Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Cliffo, a friend of mine got me about 2-3 ounces from the Bugatti dealership in Miami. I am thinking of using it on a 60's muscle car, maybe a Cuda or a Challenger.
Cesar Bossolani Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Awesome job in the wheels mate!! Looks real!! BMF it's too expensive for masking? Great blue choice also!! Keep us posted!! Cheers!
Guest Sickfish Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Doc.... Must've been the most expensive 2-3ounces of car paint... EVER! Hahaha! If you're askin a Mopar guy which car to pick to paint.... I'd probably go with the Chally... Would suit it real good! I think the 'Cuda is too "muscly" to be painted in a hue other than red/black... But hey that's just my opinion ;-) Cesar... BMF only $10 here... Not too expensive & honestly it was quickest & easiest way to cover front face of wheels with good tight coverage :-) Cheers guys, Cliffo!
Draggon Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Whoooooooooooooo beautiful! I love Astons and this is great!
Guest Sickfish Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Glad you like it, Draggon :-) Love Astons too... Waiting to win the Lottery to buy 1 ;-) Might even get it customized in this colour ;-):-) Cheers Cliffo..
Draggon Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Yea, what a great car! Do you know how rare any colors other than gunmetal are? Freakin A this is beautiful!
Guest Sickfish Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 From what I know you can get any colour you want... Apparently $$ talk's & B.S walk's.... ;-) Lol! Cheers, Cliffo... ( just clear-coated all body colour parts )
Ryan S. Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Looking good so far Cliff. That blue really pops and nice job with the rims. Really makes a difference with the black backing.
Guest Sickfish Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Thanks & cheers Ryan :-) How's the Chally-um coming along? Haven't seen an update as of late?? Cliffo :-)
Ryan S. Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Thanks & cheers Ryan :-) How's the Chally-um coming along? Haven't seen an update as of late?? Cliffo :-) It's slow going right now. Not a lot of time to spend on it. But, I've got it ready to build some new front fender flares for it so that's on the table for this weekend, I think. Keep up the good work on your builds!
Guest Sickfish Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I hear ya Ryan.... Alway's something getting in the way :-( Cool about the flares... I thought they'd need more attention... They seemed too overly-arched, if you know what I mean? Can't wait to see what you've got planned for 'em... Cheers & thanks, Cliffo :-)
