Evil Appetite Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I have a few kits I`d like to build, Space Shuttle w Booster Rockets, Saturn Rocket, Lunar Lander and the Apollo Space Craft. Thought I`d try my hand at something else for a change. Anyone know of some good communities that cater to these kinds of builds

Junkman Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 (edited) Maybe Mat Irvine's site would interest you: http://www.smallspace.demon.co.uk/ Despite not strictly on NASA, he used to be a professional modeller for the BBC. He built practically every space and sci fi studio model for more than 30 years. He even wrote a few books on space (and car) modelling. this is one of them: Edited December 5, 2011 by Junkman
Tony T Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Cool links...I've got the Buzz Aldren Saturn V kit to build...I loved the Apollo program growing up...still remember watching the moon landing on the small black and white TV at the cottage!
Junkman Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Cool links...I've got the Buzz Aldren Saturn V kit to build...I loved the Apollo program growing up...still remember watching the moon landing on the small black and white TV at the cottage! That moon landing is the first major event I can conciously remember watching - also on a small B&W telly. I was five. Next thing was watching Star Trek on the same TV, of course in B&W as well. Then we visited my grandparents, who already had a colour TV, and for the first time ever, I saw Star Trek in colour. I was so disappointed.
Tony T Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 July 20 '69...I would have been 6...Star Trek was one of my favourite TV shows of the time, too, but I think I started watching it when I was older!! Other faves were Batman, Flintstones, Jetsons, Scooby Doo, Lost in Space, Thunderbirds...just to name a few!!

Dr. Cranky Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Yes, of all the subject matter that finally had become classic because we don't build rocket ships any more. The Russians won out!
