Evil Appetite Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Should I be laying a coat of clear between my base coat and candy/pearl coat? --- Mike
Dr. Cranky Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 I agree with Jim. You want to put everything under the clear, including pearls and flakes. Well, you know, the flakes need a carrier and I use clear for that, but the final coat is just clear. Hope that helps.
Evil Appetite Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 Thanks guys, thats all i needed much appreciated
moparmagiclives Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Depends on what paint system your spraying. There may be a time window issue ( probly not as big of an issue with a model as it is a full size, but habbits are habbits) . And it depends on what your trying to do. Are you looking for a pearl/candy finish or graffix?
Evil Appetite Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 No graphics, I was going to paint 4 different bodies this weekend. 2 are gonna be pearls, 2 are gonna be kandies.
moparmagiclives Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 (edited) If its just a full cover job, your probly fine just shooting base,candy/pearl, then clear. But a coat of clear or intercoat can be nice in between layers of graffix or even stripes, it can help keep them smooth. It can be really helpfull when taping over colors, for complex jobs. But just my opinion man, paint on !!! Edited December 9, 2011 by moparmagiclives
