Evil Appetite
Nothing has ever given me a harder time than painting with a can. I cant seem to get it right, I've wasted so much paint this way, it's just nuts. How do you guys do it? How far do you keep the nozzle from the surface? Whats your technique for a 'mist coat'. Thats one thing I could never figure out how to do well. Do you hold the can way back and press the nozzle down all the way? Do you hold it close and press very lightly? How do you can users do it? Mike Kucaba
I don't have all the answers, but one thing you shouldn't do is press down lightly on the nozzle. You can't regulate the spray pattern that way.I'd suggest getting one of those devices that snap on to the can to simulate a spray gun. And don't forget the basics: warm and shake the can,ALWAYS start the spray OFF the model and bring to it, and keep the can moving.
scalenut
it's almost a case of watching someone do it once would really show what's a little hard to describe well

scalenut
not very fluid motion there.....It's almost like he's stabbing the paint on due to the wind turbine. Is that typical ?
Mike Kucaba
I think that's because they are spraying in a confined area. That booth is really small to be using a rattle can IMHO.
scalenut
I agree and why is he spraying into an open fan? , there is no filter and it's just going back into the room, or maybe it's another room? overall it's not a good representation of spraying in the garage or outside.. I have some spraying coming up, I'll try to film me doing it ... maybe I've been doing it wrong. the model did look very glossy after all Edited December 18, 2011 by scalenut
Chillyb1
My best piece of advice is this: Use TAMIYA spray paint.

Harry P.
That is a pretty weird spray booth setup... the fan is just blowing the fumes into another room!
