martinfan5 Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 (edited) Hello guys, I have been wanting to do a two conversion of a new style charger , so I first bought lindberg's charger super bee kit , but its such a nice kit, I could not bring my self to trying my custom work on it. So I got the Revell uptown kit, its the same kit as the Cadillac sts uptown kit , so its a pretty simple kit. I started this one a few days , I will be returning to it after Christmas, but I did do a few things to it to get it started . I first glued the doors onto the body, then I removed the b pillars Then then putty I have a few ideas, one is I am thinking about using the chassis from the revell magnum kit, but the wheel is just a hair and half shorter then the charger. ROB213 Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 sweet!! marking this post, definitely cant wait to see this done
Guest Sickfish Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Just thought I'd let you know there's a resin 2-door kit avail' ( based on the Lindberg kit) of this charger... It's about $30... Good luck with yours though :-) Cheers Cliffo.
martinfan5 Posted December 27, 2011 Author Posted December 27, 2011 Cliff, I do know that there is a resin body, but anyone can buy one, I want to make one . I am going to mine a little different then the resin on. The only thing I dont like about the resin one is it reminds to much of the challenger for some reason. So here is what I have done so far, I am keeping the b pillars, just moving them back
Austin T Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 As long as the back seat isn't as cramped for space like the challenger(I rode in the back of one today,my left leg just now dislodged from my stomach) I like the Idea for this build.
martinfan5 Posted December 27, 2011 Author Posted December 27, 2011 Both are cramped, the charger as just a little bit more room then the challenger, I am not changing anything with the interior other then the door panels
martinfan5 Posted January 9, 2012 Author Posted January 9, 2012 Been working on this, still having problems getting the door lines filled up and smooth. Did get the new door lines in place, not the best looking, but this is the first time I have done something like this, well not making new door lines.
jeffs396 Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Keep at it Jonathan, you'll get it! Proportions look just right, once you finish the shut lines, you'll be almost done!
road_warrior05 Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Excellent progress so far! I've always wanted to see what one of these would look like with two doors. Quick question though, are you going to allow the doors to open and close?
martinfan5 Posted January 9, 2012 Author Posted January 9, 2012 I thought about that, but no the doors are now glued shut. To be honest I just did not want the added work and the interior really isnt that great so no reason to show it off any more
Dr. Cranky Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 It looks good so far. I think you are taking the right approach by not having to modify the interior.
martinfan5 Posted January 10, 2012 Author Posted January 10, 2012 Dr, the only thing to the interior was try and convert the doors to a two door set up, lets just say the reason why I have not posted pics is becasue its they look horrible
martinfan5 Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 Started laying down some paint, going with sublime green, for some reason I really like this color . Now I need to start working on the chassis, I keep putting off.
