cavejohnson Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Here's a Mack B-73 L cab I got from AITM a while back, I'm going to modify this frame I found in a box (looks like an AMT cabover frame setup). It looks like it has a 250 Cummins and a 10 speed (White-Freightliner kit?) and a Reyco suspension. Anyone have any helpful suggestions as to what I should or shouldn't modify to make it more Mack like? Yes, the paint isn't done.
BigBad Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 The frame looks a lot like it came off the Dual drive White Freightliner, the front wheels, the battery box and the exhaust stacks and brackets tell me so. And the Cummins 250 also comes from there... Those Mack were beautiful trucks!
cavejohnson Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 I figured so, I got Mack tanks, stacks, and a battery box from AITM and debating on wheels I should use. My big question is wheelbase, I'm going to leave it as a tractor but have no idea what an appropriate wheelbase for one is. I also know I'm going to make a supercharger and make that 250 into a 300 for some added zing.
Truck parts Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 To be a true Mack you may need the following stuff, Mack engine, trans, and rear ends. I like what you have done so far.
cavejohnson Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 I have a camelback on the way, but no idea where to get an old Thermodyne
mistermodel Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 (edited) stretch it out about 2 inches, and ad a mercury bunk from a road boss or other white based kit.just my 2 cents The cummins will work just fine for this application, they were options Edited January 1, 2012 by mistermodel
cappy625 Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 it was commen to see B73s with cummins power. as far as the trans. alot of them had a triplex in them which means you'll have to put two sticks in the interior. the rear suspention would be a camelback. which can be found in any mack kit.theres plenty of aftermarket places that carry that suspention.i'll be visiting afreind of mine this weekend he had a B73 with a 220 cummins in it i'll see if he has any pictures.the interior would have been light green. some mack dealers still carry the color in rattle cans.
disabled modeler Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Nice work!.... Like to see the older trucks when they were just brutes and less flash...true workhorses.
