Dr. Cranky Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 Rob, totally understandable, but also remember that there's a full year, which is lots of time to get this one done. Some people will sit it out and some people (and you know who you are) will build 2 or 3 because, as you know, this stuff becomes addictive. Best, DC
Dr. Cranky Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 Here's your Friday eye candy to keep you inspired. This was done by our buddy, Efren (SuperCarGarage), and he's got just the right amount of fun and parts to this one. Enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/user/supercargarage

RodneyBad Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Welcome aboard Efren. I like that Mustard Bottle, Lots of good Ideas can come out of that.
Dr. Cranky Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 I like this new project, Efren, keep it going.
RodneyBad Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Okay Cranky. Attempted to weld up my seams. Been a while since I used a hot knife
UberDeath322 Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Wow Rodney, that looks amazing. Can I ask how you did that?
Dr. Cranky Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 All right, Rodney, those weld seams are perfect. Nice job. You guys are really dishing out some amazing eye candy. I gotta catch up. Shoot, I've only opened up the boxes of the Gremlin and the Van.
RodneyBad Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Wow Rodney, that looks amazing. Can I ask how you did that? I glued on some small round stock and then used a Soldiering iron/wood burning tool to rough it up. One side down so far. Thanks Cranky, I may be slow but I keep chuggin along Good thing we got a whole yr to finish. which year tho??
Chillyb1 Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Rodney, that is very cool looking welding. I've been considering whether or not I want to try something like that on my build. It just looks awesome!
RodneyBad Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Thanks, now to see if I can do it to the other side faster. This time I won't glue on the round stock and just try and melt it on. Just like welding Plastic. Some people to this when building customs, stronger than glue and sandable.
Barry Harker Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 (edited) This is a great Forum Cranky ! and thanks for your comments. and thanks to you guys as well ! there are some great models being built and i'm really looking froward to the coming months to see what you all come up with. this is what I am intending to build for the Comp, I sketched it up last year but never got round to building it, Now I have the perfect Excuse ! this was the first rough sketch of the HEMI, and here is how I intend to modifie the engine block, This is the final design of what I intend to build. and apart from the engine block and tyres. the entire model will be scratch built from sheet and sections of Styrene...and lots plastic weld ! I will make a scale card body former to get the shape and size right and then start with the chassis. I'm looking forward to getting on with this model now and will start getting the parts together this weekend. take care all, cant wait to see what you all come up with ! All the best Barry. Barry Harker Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Oh and Rodney, That process you have used on your model looks Bloody Fantastic, and looks the perfect scale ! well done. soldering irons are great for beating up the panels with as well ! all the best, Barry.
Dr. Cranky Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 Barry, more fantastic work from you, and those action photos are amazing. I sent you a PM, buddy, did you get it? Check your in-box. Keep up the great work, DC
Dr. Cranky Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 Rodney, that's a great way to do the weld seams. I use a pocket WELLER, and it works very well too. It's slow tedious work but the results are really wonderful in particular when the paint goes on.
Hippie Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Everyone seems to be posting sneak peaks so here's mine. just a gas can......
Dr. Cranky Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 Erik, I like the graphics. . . .hum, interesting gas can and I am sure the rest of the vehicle is going to look killer.
ZombieHunter26 Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Well guys. You may hear a little less from me, seeing as how I just started a new job- BUT I will still be building on my free time. (It's only part time work so I will still have plenty of it) Just a heads up, seeing as how I've practically been living at my workbench for the past three months. I'm still here, just with a -little- less frequency! 'til next time....
ZombieHunter26 Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Also, I picked up some more stuff to part out from the thrift store today. Should make for some interesting add-ons for whatever the good doctor is surprising me with
