realgone58 Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Looking for a good glue debonder. Every type I see is for super glue. Will it work with old model glue? Have some glue bombs that I need to take apart and I don't want to break them. Any suggestions? Lot's of times I pass on buying old builts with full fender skirts because I figure I'll bust the quarter panels off trying to remove them. I think once glue hits about 30 years old, it turns into a fossil.
Greg Wann Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I have heard that just putting them in the freezer for awhile will make them fall apart.
stulee11 Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 i have seen a few people on here saying to soak the model in water for a while. then put it in a zip freezer bag and put it in your freezer for either a few days or a week i'm not to sure how long... but thats ment to pop open most if not all the glue lines.
crazyjim Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Model in water in a Zip-Lock bag and into the freezer at least overnight really works.
realgone58 Posted January 20, 2012 Author Posted January 20, 2012 Ok, I'll give it a shot..........Thanks guys.
JohnU Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 The freezing method explains why my old builds from 30 some years ago stored in my parents attic just fell apart when I went to retrieve them recently!
